No. We do not need another crappy burger place, and In-N-Out is worse than just about any of them.

I agree with you. I don’t like any of the burger places around this area. Burger Joint being my least favorite. I guess I would like to see something better than Taco Cabana though. Haven’t been here since I was a kid and I never thought it was good.

  2. As much as I hated this going up here, it’s not half bad looking. Looks pretty modern to me and 50x better than that hideous building/gas station they put up on Washington and Shepherd in front of El Rey. I like the use of stone, aluminum and the fake wood here.

  3. Just lack of proper drainage. Last improvement was probably 50 or 60 years ago. They were originally going to start the concrete/drainage reconstruction from 610 to 15th St but they started it from 15th St to 610. This will be a very nice thoroughfare in a few years when all the new concrete, sidewalks and trees are put in.

  4. I’d bet $100 bucks all you people that don’t like the white/black trend are of an older generation and or more traditional. I grew up in The Heights and all my family has been there since the 1960’s, we are very happy people are painting their homes and making them more modern and choosing a more neutral color palette. White is clean, timeless, and just looks really good compared to a generic suburban looking brick colors or the gaudy early 2000’s brown/beige theme that seem to still be prevalent around Houston.

  5. Christ this has to be the ugliest new apartment complex to go up in that area. Every other apartment around that area is so much better looking, and some are even a few years old. This place screams CHEAP. They half assed everything, half of the building doesn’t even match. Not to mention the horrendous LED lights that are bright as day at night time. It’s a light show here.

According to a Dec. 23 report from REBusinessOnline, Houston-based Barvin Investments has acquired the Elan Heights apartment complex at 825 Usener St. in the Woodland Heights neighborhood.

Great! Hopefully they can get around to painting that god awful looking garage base. Those cinder blocks would look much better painted a neutral color and then this building would look even better. It still looks unfinished..
