I like the idea of a the BRT, I just think it really should be an underpass here to avoid a large dark area that probably won't be maintained and won't be so ugly on the eye.
I completely agree. Their proposal is a completely eyesore. I didn’t even consider the area underneath and what would become of it.

Maybe it’s not true to the original rendering but I still like it. Everything eventually come back into style, right? 😏

Are those windows or lights?

The bottom right is one of my least favorites. The box-like building topper looks awful IMO. My favorite is the initial rendering (top left) that was released. All the others look too similar to The Latitude and are just plain boring.

So what are the odds retail moves into their space? Parking is less than ideal if you wanted to run in and grab something quickly.

Think about the level of density the city will have from the TMC to Downtown if the city approves no parking minimums for Midtown and Eado! The area is already rather dense as it is having that restriction.
Does the city have that on the agenda to vote on?

The front? I wasn’t aware they are live. I’ve been waiting
No, on the side of the building. Between Amegy, Post Oak and Arabella it’s looking pretty good.

Has anyone see the LED’s on the side lining the “V”? They look pretty cool. Unfortunately I couldn’t snap a pic in time. They’re a purple/blue if I remember correctly.

This has to be the shortest, dullest W I've ever seen. I hope the design is different and taller.
The garage was designed and built to only support so many stories and I would imagine they’re building as tall as they can.

With the success of Phonecia near Discovery Green in One Park Place I'm certain Scott McClellum of HEB has plans on the table to bring his Central Market or HEB Market concepts to the GRB
Area. With City Hall approving the W Hotel project, that alone will
supercharge retail in the district. He's probably willing to partner with a residential developer who would look to add a retail component too.
Do you think the convention center district would be the first choice over Market Square?

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is planning something here.
I’m not a fan of the rodeo, but if they branch off into a different theme it won’t be as bad.

Into a different theme? There was no mention of a theme park or anything remotely close.

I actually kind of like It. It’s “different.”

I’m slightly confused. The slim rendering above is the same building as the b&w one posted initially? I don’t see it.

Have any new light rail lines been proposed? What are the odds any new ones will be built? In our lifetime?
-
I’m a huge advocate for light rail but what are the chances we’ll get more? Are new lines even being considered? If so, would would it happen in our lifetime)

I spoke with a guy yesterday who works for Oxy and he said as far as he knows they’re still moving into Conoco’s old campus

Any word on when they're supposed to make a decision regarding the hotel component?

Yup, affordable is key IMO. I agree with a lot of the comments about too many Latin and burger places. I’d probably be ok with anything as long as it’s reasonably priced.
