Hello all,
So has anyone seen a time line for this Livable Centers/Strategic Vision? I saw a ABC-13 remote van/truck in Guadalupe Park last evening and they have a story on their website.

It looks really interesting but also has an element of "pie in the sky, all talk, no action".
Personally, as a resident of the East End, I'm excited to see some interest in rejuvenating this area.

UT plays Rice at Toyota, that might have something to do with it.

Laidback Manor closed and Matra (I think that is the spelling) opened in it's place. It's Indian food and I hear it is pretty good (not a buffet).
Is this right across from the Flying Saucer? I think I've seen it but never been there.

Hats off the the coogs from a fellow alum here. They are 6-1 in C-USA and 8-3 overall with the comeback win against SMU yesterday. 37-27 was the final score. Also Rice beat Tulsa in OT 41-38 which means the coogs are C-USA western division champs and earned a berth in the C-USA championship game. Now, all they have to do is beat Memphis next week and we'll be hosting the Championship game...
WHO's HOUSE? that's right, COOGS HOUSE!!
C-USA championship game Dec 1st, hopefully at Robertson Stadium.
GO COOGS!!

I own one of the perry homes next the Alexan. I guess you can count this as east end. Been there for 2.5 yrs now, slow development in the area but looks promising

Hello fellow eastenders,
I noticed recently that the demolition and cleanup on a good size piece of land has begun on Runnels st, across from the Alexan Lofts and Perry Homes. I also know that the corner store and the blue plasma building are going away. Anyone know what the plan for this land is? Retail? Mix development? Residential? I see the progress on the mid-dense-residential build on canal is moving along too. Other development, I see that a new elementary school is being built on the northside of buffalo bayou, a block from Clinton on Jenson. Does this mean that the school on Jenson and Navigation ( or is it Franklin and Canal?) is going away? Any plan for development on that location?
I think the Jenson-Navigation-Runnel-Canal area is beginning a boom kinda like what Midtown went through. I like it.

Well, the photo wasn't up close enough for me to clearly see who it was.
My favorite part of Saturday Night Live was the Mr. Bill Show (OH, NOOOO!!!).
lol, yeah.
...to get back on topic. As a fellow eastender or near eastsider (not sure what the official term is). I'm seeing positive change on this side of downtown. Yes, i might be slow, but this side of downtown seems to get forgotten and discarded an old, abandoned warehouse zone. Maybe that is it used to be, it's really very nice and quiet neighborhood now ( just get rid of the damn train and it will be even quieter, ). Also, from what I heard and read, there is a posibility that one of the lightrail, bus-rail alignments might run on Navigation or Harrisburg. This should help push development even more.
I see a lot of future in this area, glad to be a resident.

Is that Drew Carey? Yes, I'm always living in a dream world. For about a year I've been dreaming how my life would have turned out had I stayed in Houston and not moved away back in 1964.
Do you shop at Dollar General?
Back when I was in high school, girl's mothers wouldn't let their daughters go out with a guy who drove a van.
Drew Carey??? oh, c'mon, that's a classic SNL skit with the late great Chris Farley.
Guadalupe Plaza Park At 2311 Runnels St.
in EaDo, the East End, and East Houston

Guadalupe Plaza Park renovation started. Will be a one year project.
I saw this on the Greater East End website

Are they going to re-align the intersection (Runnels/Navigation/Jensen/Franklin)? I know there were some plans to put in a round-about. Also will the TBH still be part of the new Plaza?
