Ahh, it's a small world indeed. I vividly remember the trip to see the Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto monument. I remember Kimberly too. I'm pretty sure her dad was a state senator, last name Ogg. If you remember Steven and Susan, send me a PM sometime. My wife and I are going to take a trip down there this fall and get some pictures before it's all gone.

The Kimberly u r referring to is now the present Harris County District Attorney since elected in 2016

I think that originally Main Street didn't extend beyond Braes Bayou, and that Old Main Street Loop Road was the route southwest.

A section of Old Main Street Loop still exist (where Stella Link terminates) - the rest was abandoned since the 1980s (part of the route was paved over by the Central Houston Nissan dealership but the stub outs still remain; another chunk north of the South Loop faded out since the 1960s when the Astrodome was built and a small section NE of Reliant Center is still there)

I don't remember squat about this Globe store. I just remember there being a LOT of car dealerships (Including Bill McDavid with the animated neon rocket on the sign) along 45 near Gulfgate...that, and there was a drive-in hamburger joint called The Ritz...which is no longer there...and further down near Griggs, the Frito's plant...Heh! I remember getting lost in that one too when I was a kid. I also remember going to Princess Hamburgers also on Shepherd...60's...

A variant of the McDavid rocket still exists in Irving, TX off TX183 east of the PGBT Turnpike (east of Esters Rd) - facility is now the David McDavid Auto Group

Familiar with Globe but not that location. We had one by us, when i was growing up. I think it was owned by Walgreens...it was their answer for Woolco and Kmart.

the Home Depot in Gulfgate used 2 be the location of Bill McDavid Oldsmobile - where the Whataburger and Wells Fargo is located as of 2017 would have been the Globe location
