Sammy told me once that the deed restrictions required two story houses, so he had the architect place the small room on top.... Now at his next [and last house] in Meyerland, he an amazing barbecue pit which he had a master pit man run almost non stop for years...especially to feed the weekly Gin Rummy game he hosted...

There were actually two "reincarnations" one briefly at Braeswood Square, S. Braeswood & Chimney Rock, in the secondary structure that housed the Mama Leoni's and then later in the ground floor of the River Oaks Apartment Building a few nights a week as "Blue Parrot Night"...these were in the late 70's...and neither lasted long...

We sold the Milam & Rusk building [which was the original Star Furniture location] in mid 1983....the building remained vacant until about four years ago when a Subway was put in... We left the First City [Fannin & Clay] in 1990.

I seem to remember that the Braeswood Square, and possibly the River Oaks Apartment building incarnations were owned by one of the Pulaski's who had acquired the rights and recipes...but this is just from what I remember overhearing as a kid 40+ years ago....
