The ice rink in the Farmers Market was just west of where the post office is now and on the site now located where the Brownstones are. The road that goes between the post office and the Brownstones did not exist and the road actually was due west of the Brownstones lots. It was actually the road that now goes between the Brownstones and Luby's (now covered by a parking garage). I remember going back there years later and being confused by the placement of the road because it now borders a neighborhood and the Farmers Market was on the east side of the road and there is no room for it there with the current road. A check of the historical photos on Google Earth (from 1978) confirms the layout in the 70s.

Town & Country was my stomping ground in the 60s and 70s. A lot of memories at Panjos. I still have one of those mugs.

I lived in Cypress and worked at Precision Auto Supply in the late 70s. My boss and I would split a large with the works about once a week. That pie had shrimp and jalapenos and all the goodies, and that crust was simply the best. There are just some things in life that, sadly, go away and never come back. (Precision Auto Supply is gone as well.) They also served beer in frosty mugs, and they went down really well with that food.

You are right about the post office. In the 60s we used to ride our bikes to the end of Hallie on the north side of Bendwood park. It was nothing but a field with trees, high grass and some old sheds. We called it ghost town.
