  1. I guess if you have a vested interest in this project, you choose the studies that suite your agenda. Take the example below, it's obviously written by a pro nuclear power advocate.😃

    The concerns about groundwater are not without data to back them up. The toxic chemicals used in panel production have leaked into the water supply before. In 2022, Popular Science reported on 4 solar farms that violated the Clean Water Act. In 2021, journalist Michael Shellenberger wrote an article for Forbes where he warned that solar panels produce 300 times more toxic waste than nuclear fuel.

  2. After the terrible destruction of a 4000 ac. solar farm by a massive hail storm in Needville Tx, hopefully it's DEAD. Nothing environmentally friendly about that incident. The toxins leeching into the ground water from all the busted panels is a horrible nightmare.

    I know of way to many folks that commute from Clear Lake to the Woodlands or Katy; or from Kingwood to Sugarland etc. The suburban work center concept has been a complete flop IMO and created miles of infrastructure maintenance headaches. The issue is cities growing and sprawling beyond all comprehension. Houston, with a metro population of 2 million back in the 70s was so much more enjoyable and easier to get around than today. I have family here I seldom see because it's such a draining chore to get to them. Things felt closer knit back then. I'm a native boomer, and my glasses are very much rose tinted.

    Time marches on and things change.  I doubt there is any redeeming value of an old Sears sign to a developer.  I know the Harold’s name was kept bizarrely for a restaurant.  That, however was Houston-based and just a single location.

    I hope whatever Sears is torn down for it is something the neighborhood wants.  I find Shepherd to be too busy a street for me.  Wabash picked the worst street location in my opinion.  I know they were priced out from Washington but I wonder if they regret the move?  Time marches on…

    Childhood memories, it was my go to store to see Santa in the 1960s. Also, it's just an interesting mid-century design. Maybe relace the neon in the same style, but with the new development name.

    3. The Ritz-Carlton Residences to be located in the Woodlands.

    4. Blocks of cleared empty lots along Montrose @ Westheimer going south. No sign of development in sight.

    Feel free to add to the list, seems like Houston is well on it's way to becoming the Detroit of Texas.

  6. Hate to disagree, but if you look at the original renderings the total height of 24 floors seemed to include the crown. I counted a total of 21 habitable floors in the rendering. and I now count 21 completed floors. While nearby, I observed that the protruding rebars of the last floor are bent and interwoven 90 degrees. I'm no architect, but I've seen this enough to know it usually indicates the completion actual floor space. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how it appears to me.

  7. Your right, though the construction photos to date unfortunately appear to match these latest rendering.

    Somewhere along the way the design was changed from the initial renderings presented a year ago or so to this bland stuff.

     

    You know, most folks wouldn't understand swapping a good design for cheap boring vanilla at the last minute, but we get it...,

     

    it's just a Houston thang, it's who we are, it's what we do.
