I applied to be a crane operator for this building, but they wouldn't hire me because I'm afraid of heights...talk about picky.

Aww man, this one was one of my favorites. But a billion $ is kind of a lot of money so understandable. I just hope it doesn't get put on the back burner for too long.

With all the new mid-rises going up in mid-town kind of reminds me of Manhattans mid-town. Of course much less dense at this point, but i think we're going to see more and more of these types of projects go up between downtown and uptown/galleria in the next few decades. As the land prices continue to rocket in this area, well see fewer single family homes (with the exception of River Oaks) as well as fewer single story businesses and shopping centers. It's crazy to think that just a little over a century ago, this was all farmland with a little dirt road called Westheimer.

The way this season's going, it might be the closest we come to seeing one for a while.

It kind of looks like the World Series trophy at this point.

Now if we could just get a rail line to connect downtown with one of the airports, would be a huge boost for hosting events.

I wonder which is taller right now, market square or 609? From the north/west angle in the photo it looks like they're about even.

Driving in from 45 north this beauty is really starting to stand out, along with market square, and its only 2/3 done.

Coming back from the Sam Houston tollway to 59 in to town is such an incredible view up on that high level exit to 59.
The medical center downtown and the galleria are starting to look not so far apart. The BHP Billiton building and its cluster really
looks good from out there. As the new wave of high rises in Montrose, Greenway Plaza/River Oaks area get taller the galleria and
downtown are looking more and more like a smaller version of Manhattan. Now don't any one get there panties in a wad but I'm just
saying in 50 years it will be just like NYC's skyline minus a couple of hundred story buildings. Its amazing how from out there you can really see the three areas getting closer to each other. Pretty amazing when you see all three areas from that location.
Remember also that the NYC skyline is rapidly changing as well. So maybe in 50 years Houston might resemble Manhattan as it is today, but even that might be a stretch. It really comes down to bridging the old midtown gap in the areas you listed, but as we all know there are some very old and extremely wealthy neighborhoods there that fight tooth and nail anytime a high rise goes up anywhere near them. It'll be interesting to see if greenway continues to expand along 59. Also depends on how many businesses continue to move to the Energy Corridor, Memorial city, and westchase. As the property values skyrocket in these areas, I think more businesses will stay in the city.

Two buildings this tall is very exciting, this is like the Hudson Yards of Houston.
