I have to agree with some that LTAWACS says. It seems like developers never get the point around here, and then they never realize why the city never gets a good rep. There are so many developments that could have changed the face of the city if they were more centralized, but people who do not appreciate urbanism would never know this.

The level of stupidity that these people display is astounding and quite frankly I'm considering moving out of this place.
are you talking about sprawl?
-
I would much rather see mega-developments like this built downtown or in other areas with appropriate infrastructure and better traffic flow.
Thankyou. Houston is becoming another LA with all these attractions not situated around downtown.

the place was just approved probably a month ago i believe.

lol. What a change.

I am so envious of cities that get the honor of having Gehry's signature design.
-
Now can we get something going in downtown people. This is nice and all but damn. Are they blind?
-
Nice pics. I really like the urban design of the Post properties, but it would help if the facade of some of them weren't so bland.

I hope the 288 and BW8 happens. The area is kind of dead. What are those yellow townhomes that can be seen from the freeway, with single family homes behind it. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Priced from $125,000-$250,000
Dont get too happy with the price because all residences are 1 bedroom/ 1 bathroom
Located at 2205 McKinney, near Lofts at the Ballpark.

Sorry, if I am too lazy to check out the place myself, but I saw a commercial on it a while back and the area looked kind of nice, or maybe they were just sugar coating it. From the commercial, I saw more of a pedetrian oriented retail district, rather than a strip mall with oversized parking lots like Uptown Park(which I might add had so much potential if they had built it in an urban design). What exactly does Town & Country Village look like? If you have any pics, that would be great too.

Well by some of my replies around this forum, you all know I am a sucker for things being dowtown, especially when it fills up the surface lots. If money was not an issue, I would definitely put something near the other sporting venues in dt to make the area complete as a sports district, since they name the other parts of downtown by distict anyway.

Then we could open up the largest urban design Burger King in the world. lol. Something like ATL did with Coco Cola.

Its building number 7.
Figures. I could't picture that building in the core of the TMC like by the Marriott and Methodist. By the looks of the map, it is closer to Reliant.
-
Yeah, I meant 500 per square foot. sorry. Heck yeah that would be cheap.
-
$500/sq ft? Goodness!!!! That is the average price at the famous Trump Residential Building in New York. Literally.
-
How far is this building away from the core of the Med Center? Nice building but not a fan of the parking lots as shown in the rendering.

That tells you how old it is. At around the same time there was another multi-block retail area proposed near the ballpark called "E-Square" (we're talking the late 1990s here ). This idea was probably dreamed up as a counter-proposal to see if there was sufficient interest in the market. In either case, there apparently wasn't. The large amount of development that was expected to occur in east downtown after construction of MMP just never took off.
Sounds reasonable to believe

I don't know if that is new or old but it looks cool as hell. Unfortunately on the website it sounds old, because they call the Toyota Center proposed.
-
I like renovations of old buildings, but in downtown Houston's case, I somewhat hate it. This is only because of the amount of surface lots.
-
Maybe the playground will come with the new park in front of the GRB.
Playgorund? ewwwwwwwwww. Am I missing something here about a playground in downtown.
-
Ah man. I thought this was going to be another Sugar Land Town Square, which I am very proud of its urban development. This just looks like another fancy strip mall, except for the urban pedestrain oriented village that they claim it to be. I can't even picture condos in this development.

If we are not including midtown, others are Sabinne Street Lofts and Humble Tower. I've seriously thuoght about moving to Sabine Street or Lfts at the Ballpark, because you get a lot for your money. Ballpark seems a little isolated though.
Here are some pics. These are properties to rent.

The Lofts at the Ballpark. I know their are plenty more but I am lazy.

Atleast they are serious about the project and are updating the renderings. The last time, they were talking about the Toyota Center was proposed now they actually have the Hilton Americas in the rendering and light rail. The location is also awesome, not sprawly like some of these awesome developments happening 10 miles away from downtown or in the suburbs. lol. This is happening right next door to Main Street Square across from the Courtyard by Marriott. Hope this gets off the ground. This is the exact same thing as the one in Denver.
