  1. It was a joke in reference to they fact if Walmart puts 2 stores with in 10 miles of each other their is all this out rage. So are all the complaints because its a Walmart or a grocery store. I am not a Walmart fan at all. I don't give them any of my money. When Walmart put a small store on Westheimer  Parkway their was a big uproar. The increased traffic and selling alcohol so close to a school was the complaint. If it was a Heb Central Market  everyone would love it. Even though the Heb would have 20x the traffic of the Walmart neighborhood market. This new Kroger will be selling alcohol right across the street from a high school. What students will be more likely to cross the street to by beer? High school or Elementary school students? Blue Bell can knowingly have issues that kill people and people still have God Bless Blue Bell signs in their front yard. If Walmart did the same thing they would be crucified. I personal think the Kroger will do well and be a success.

  2. I really don't see a masive shift into Brookshire because of Royal ISD. They don't have the reputation of a upper end sububan school district. Right now the big subdivision with a Brookshire address is Willow Creek Farms but it is Katy ISD. You may get some starter neighborhoods in Brookshire (Royal ISD). I think where your major growth will be is between 290 and 10 along Grand Parkway. You already have big MPC planned for that area that are just now building or about to take off.

  3. The rumor in the grocery biz is that it will become a Joe V's smart shop. Joe V's is owned by HEB. It is typicaly a smaller store with not a wide variety but cheap prices. In the last few months they have removed the graffiti that was by the entry and put the chain link fence up. Also late last year their were electrical contractors working inside the building. Not sure if that has anything to do with the Joe V's or just maintenance. The last few times I drove by I did not see a For Lease sign that used to be front of it. With the Heb lease ending on Jan 1 2014  they can try and get a better deal from the landlords. I have heard Joe V's is supposed to open 3 stores this year while HEB is supposed to open 5-6.
