  1. Houston19514,

I believe that you may have left out three carriers for DFW:

    1. Etihad

    2. Emirates

    3. Korean

Also, Volaris has applied for Houston service, so we might get another carrier.

    Thanks.

Avianca does not fly to IAH.  They serve IAH with code shares with TACA.  But it appears I also left of TACA.  Good catch on Spirit.

Right about Qantas and Sun Country.

    Edited:  (Hat-tip to asubrt):

Another update:  With the announcement of ANA service, Spirit service, and the all-but-announced EVA service, IAH will now have 19 foreign flag carriers (including the charter-only SonAir);  21 carriers with international service.      In comparison, with the soon-to-be-added VivaAerobus and Spirit, DFW will have 13 foreign flag carriers (three of which are seasonal only); 16 carriers with international service.

    IAH:

    1. Aeromexico
    2. Air Canada
    3. Air China
    4. Air France

    5. ANA
    6. British Airways
    7. Emirates
    8. EVA Air
    9. Interjet
    10. KLM
    11. Korean Air
    12. Lufthansa
    13. Qatar Airways
    14. Scandinavian Airlines
    15. Singapore Airlines
    16. SonAir *

    17. TACA
    17. Turkish Airlines
    19. VivaAerobus

    20. Spirit
    21. United

    * SonAir is charter only

    DFW:

    1.   Aeromexico

    2.   Air Canada

    3.   Avianca

    4.   British Airways

    5.   Cayman Airways (seasonal only and even

    11. Qatar

    12. Westjet (seasonal only)

    13. VivaAerobus (starting 2015)

    14. American

    15. Spirit

    16. Sun Country (4 x per week)

  2. HAIFers,

It looks like the rumors of a new international airline starting flights to Houston is true.

From May 2nd, Korean Airlines starts 4 flying to IAH 4 times per week with 3-class 777-200ER aircraft from Seoul Incheon. Here is the schedule:

    Quote

    KE029 ICN0910 – 0830IAH 772 x247

    KE030 IAH1040 – 1530+1ICN 772 x247

    Here is the link:

In addition, Dallas service gets reduced from daily to 5 times weekly.

    Another great addition for Houston.

    Thanks.

  3. Why did we change the directional orientation of the stadium?

    • The new East-West orientation provides more fans and our TV audiences a dynamic view of the Houston skyline.
    • The east side seats in Robertson Stadium experienced intense sun during day games. We conducted a comprehensive sun and shade study at three different kickoff times in both early and late fall. The study indicated improved shading and comfort for our fans without hindering the ability of our student-athletes. The new orientation attempts to mitigate the impact of the late summer sun on the fan experience while also achieving several other goals:
      • The north sideline seats are adjacent to the new Stadium Parking Garage for convenient access;
      • The new orientation is congruent with the University’s current grid system;
      • Creates a more efficient surface parking system; and
      • Creates vibrant and relevant interaction with the adjacent academic corridor.
    • The new East-West orientation is not unique to the University of Houston. Many FBS football stadiums such as Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and Oregon have similar orientations.

KinkaidAlum & Houston19514, thanks so much for the great detailed replies. That makes perfect sense. I also didn't think about it from a campus perspective. Hopefully they will close Cullen through campus at some point and "island" campus so that it can truly be fully integrated and interactive with campus. Thanks again!
