  1. I was born on June 13, 1972 in Houston Texas and I was born and raised in Houston Texas. I went to Judd M. Lewis Elementary School or is it Judd Lewis Elementary School during my childhood. I am wondering if any of my school mates are around? I am curious in learning what has happened to them. What happened to Brandon Carpenter, Eric (do not know his last name?)(I know that he had a sister named Nova)(he was beaten up so badly that he got his leg broken, I believe?), and Clayton (I believe his last name was Cox?)? I used to have a friend name Dawn (forgot her last name?) too? What has happened to all the people that attended school with me during my years at Judd M. Lewis Elementary or is it Judd Lewis Elementary? My friend Clayton traveled to Florida with my grandmother (my grandmother adopted me) and my two aunts and we went to Disney World when we were going to Judd Lewis Elementary School or is it Judd M. Lewis Elementary School. My friend Eric wanted my grandmother to adopt him always and he also gave me a kiss on my cheek on my Birthday (we were at Pipe Organ Pizza).

  2. I remember when I was a little girl during the 1970s and the 1980s I used to go to a barbecue place on the end of the shopping strip on Boardway going toward Hobby Airport and going away from I-45. It was on the end where the Glenbrook Valley Area is. Does anyone remember the name of the restaurant? This place bring back GREAT memories!

  3. In the 1970s and the 1980s, I remember going to Pizza Hut or was it Pizza Inn on Boardway driving to Hobby Airport (driving away from I-45). It in the parking lot by Red Lobster! It had a beautiful stain glass window in the Pizza Hut or was it Pizza Inn. I love sitting by that window! If anyone remember that table which people wrote on, it was pretty interesting. I do not believe it is a good thing though. I love the 1960s or the 1970s style picture of that woman with long flowing hair. Pardon my grammar and spelling. That bring back great memories!

  4. No, this was during the 1970s! I do not believe it was The Gap. It was a large department store in The Gulfgate Mall, and I think was a Foley's, Dillard's, or something like that. The wooden thing that had the blue jeans hanging was like a gabza (do not know how to spell it, sorry). I meant 'Gazebo' not 'Gabza' sorry. I meant that the wooden platform was like a gazebo which they hung blue jeans in. I found that design so neat, and it really fit in the 1970s style. I miss it! Does anyone here remember that store? It wasn't The Gap! That was for sure! It was a higher class department store. Like I said before it was probably Foley's or Dillard's (or something like that).

  5. Thank you Nena E.! Maybe that is the one that I went with my family (especially my mother's mother and my mother's stepfather)! I just remember there was a room with stripped colored wallpaper (the main color was a light blue). But there was a lot of rooms beside the main dinning room. I believe both of my aunts (my mother's youngest sisters) worked there as waitresses (I mean Sambo's Restaurant). My mother has 1 brother and 3 sisters. 1 sister who is older than my mother and the brother is 3rd. to the oldest. My mother is the second to the oldest! I wondering if anyone remember me as a child going to Sambo's Restaurant with my family? I was born on June 13, 1972 and I was born and raised in Houston Texas. Not too many people are like me, I mean not too many of us are still around that was born and raised in Houston Texas. I do not live in Gulfgate/Hobby Area anymore, I live in the Downtown Houston Area now. I live with my father. The house that I grew up in is now torn down. My grandparents adopted me when I was a little girl, but they raised me from pretty much day one. I now reconnected with my biological father in 2010. Both of my grandparents has now passed away. My grandfather died on Friday October 02, 2009 and my grandmother died on November 15, 2011 (I am not sure if that is right date). I like the Downtown Area alright, but lately I have missed the Gulfgate/Hobby Area. I would love to chat more about Sambo's Restaurant with anyone who would like to chat about Sambo's Restaurant.

  6. I remember one of the department stores in The Gulfgate Mall having a made of wood place where they hung blue jeans. I remember thinking how cool it was. It was during the 1970s. It really looked 70s style too. It kind of reminded me of something that came out of a television series or sitcom from the 1970s. I wish that was still there in The Gulfgate Mall. So many memories are not there anymore, how sad!

  8. I remember that awesome round swing set! Young children like swinging high and kicking the ball with their feet. I mean in Queen Park. Young children like climbing up the swing set too. I remember the fort too. Children like climbing inside and outside of the fort too. Queen Park didn't have a lot of children play stations but it I didn't care because I was spending the time with my grandfather (my mother's stepfather). But Queen Park had not enough children activities. Just a few things for children to play on. But you have to remember that I love spending time with my grandfather (my mother's stepfather).

  9. Subjects

    Queen Park

Shadow Meadows Lanes - Bowling Alley

The Grocery Store By Queen Park

The Burger King in the Queen Park and Shadow Meadow Lane Area

I remember my grandfather (my mother's stepfather) taking me to Queen Park, the grocery by the Queen Park, Shadow Meadows Lanes, and the Burger King in the same area. I believe these were located in the Pearland or Pasadena Area. Does anyone remember these places?

  10. During the 1970s, my grandfather (my mother's stepfather) had a Sambo's Dollar Bill which he saved for many years until he lost it (for me). I used to buy things with those Sambo's Dollar Bills. I bought a stuff tiger and a kite. That is all I remember! I remember one room with colored striped wallpaper too. I remember the bar and the lights above the bar which told the story of Sambo and the tiger. I think how the tiger chased Sambo around the tree and that how they made butter or is it tiger butter. I loved going to Sambo's with my grandparents (on my mother's side) especially with my grandfather (my mother's stepfather), because we used to go together alone to Sambo's Restaurant.

  11. I remember going to The Houston Galleria when I was a child during the 1970s and I took ice skating lessons there too during the 1970s and the 1980s. I remember they played disco music and other types of music and they had psychedic light which shined on the ice skating rink during the night time hours, it was so fun! I miss those days! I remember going to a restaurant at The Houston Galleria which was like a melt shop or ice cream shop and the waiters and waitresses would wear red and white large stripes hats and uniforms. They also had a gift shop which you walked through before you left the restaurant. It's now long gone!

  12. If I remember right, it was named Gulfgate Roller Rink. That one was there for a long time too.

I remember the shops in the mall too. Before Almeda Mall, Gulfgate was it other than stand alone stores in Pasadena.

The Gulfgate Theater is gone along with the hill it sat on. Mini storage there now and the 610 crossing bridge is sort of there. I think they are leaving it in place and are rebuilding the theater end of it to match the new lower grade.

I remember the hill that the Gulfgate Movie Theatre sat on. I remember running and walking up and down that hill, and I remember the parking lot too. And walking down to the street level of the Gulfgate Movie Theatre. My mother didn't drive, so on one ocassion (or is it occassion?) one night we walk down to the street (below and under the freeway or highway I mean I-45) to catch a ride with my aunts and my grandmother. I remember in 1975 (I believe it was 1975) my grandfather (my mother's stepfather) parked in the parking lot to see the movie Witch Mountain with Kim Richards and Eddie Albert.

  13. I immensely miss my Grandfather (my Mother's Stepfather) ! I remember going to his law office Davidson & Gray and spending a lot of time with my Grandfather (my Mother's Stepfather) there, and they had a large Fig Tree in the backyard. I also remember going to Furrs too. I enjoy going there too eat. A lot of memories are connected to Aldine Bender. My Aunt's Husband/Boyfriend bought her a Baby Chick and my Grandfather (my Mother's Stepfather) took to his law office because we had dogs and cats, we wer frighten that the Baby Chick would be eaten by the other animals. It was Roaster. And the Roaster loved my Grandfather (my Mother's Stepfather) but it hated my Grandfather's (my Mother's Stepfather's) law partner and the Roaster would run and poop on my Grandfather's (my Mother's Stepfather's) law partner's shoes. But the Roaster loved the Children next door too. But we were afraid that someone ate the Roaster at the end. Because we didn't see the Roaster.
