  1.

Google Map showing every road accident involving a car, truck, bicycle or motorcycle in Montgomery, Harris, Fort Bend, Liberty and Chambers counties reported to the Texas Department of Transportation between July 2007 and December 2011, by accident severity, with Google street view of accident spots.

Zoom in and around, see the black spots on your commute or near your home

    • 244,207 vehicle accidents reported
    • avg 48,000 accidents every year
    • > than 131 accidents per day
    • avg of almost 6 every hour!

good news is that all counties are seeing decreasing accident rate (except for Fort Bend county)
  2. There are too many possible factors at play here, among them economics (gas prices), convenience (crowded highways), attitudinal changes (why did it take me 8 years to even try the train).

I think it would be useful to look elsewhere for precedents that show city growth and what factors struck a balance between growth and infrastructure spending. But first i'm curious whether everyone here agrees that the mass adoption of an efficient public transport system is both desirable and preferable to gridlock and more roads.

    Stumped if I know

  3. Has anyone figured out who the entity is that is planning to build this? The last article only mentions the East Montgomery County Improvement District and that there's a bill in the State legislature waiting for the governor's signature, so it sounds like the State is putting up funds but the author leaves us guessing.... mellow.gif It says that this site was chosen from 64 sites around the country, so obviously this wasn't just EMCID's idea.

This might spur development in New Caney.

Could start gettin some them there highrise condominiums going up.
