  1. I have read everyone's ideas on this topic. It seems that no matter what direction Houston goes someone is going to be unhappy. We complain about Houston not being dense enough, now we development that is helping to increase population density in areas that were run down. Now people want us to preserve areas. It's as though we want our cake and eat it too! We need to understand that sometimes you have to give a little to to get alot. We should be happy to see areas of the city that are run down being redeveloped. Developers may not build your ideal House but it is ideal to someone. This city is filled with 2+ Million individuals.

Remember that Houston has the ability to be all things to all people. If you want perservation move to the Heights, if you want urban move to the Med Center, if you want unique suburban move to the Woodlands. if you want quirky move to Montrose, if you want upscale move to River Oaks.

People worry about too many things. Simply enjoy Houston for what it is. If you don't like move some where else. <_<

Also not to bash Dallas, but I lived there for 2 years and after coming back to Houston i realized that in Houston you can live in a different part of the city and feel as though you are in a diiferent city. In Dallas every thing feels the same. I wonder if zoning has anything to do with that.

  2. But what about the service? Some of those dished sound good....and there's a place for every priced menu.

But my personal issue with the place is the service. I've been twice, both on weeknights, when we were one of ~2-3 tables in the resturaunt. On our second trip there and being neglected (when I had less patience), I walked around to the bar (they sat us towards the left/back) and the waitress was sitting at the bar with her friends (who didn't work there) just BS'ing.

Sorry, but after twice, I won't be back.

I do hope the place makes it though, because I sure don't want to see that spot vacant. After 3-4 different places on that corner in the 3 yrs it's bee built, hopefully one will stick.

I agree that is unacceptable behavior. The owner is in the process of making some changes so that these things will not happen going forward...when those changes happen I will let you know... This restauraunt has huge potential.

  3. BS. The stuff I had was not fresh, and the one that tasted like Pace with jalapeno juice thrown in would not have made it to the grocery store shelves.

Actually it is made fresh. When the salsa is made they actually roast fresh tomatoes, they use fresh cilantro, and fresh jalepenos among other things. These ingredients make up what is called salsa fresca or fresh salsa

I have seen many dishes prepared at this restaurant. You may feel that some things are over priced and quite honestly I think some are too. The refried bean are not from a can, they are actually homemade at the restaurant. If the owner wanted to lower the prices then he would probably go that route. If you have ever been to this restaurant you know this is no Taqueria that is why you pay a little more. And for those of you who only eat beans and tortillas when you come or stick to the safe choices like nachos or quesadillas you have no Idea what you are missing. Some of Terlinguas best dishes are the "off the menu" specials

Pollo Frances - a lightly French Fried Chicken Breast smothered in sauted mushrooms and a creamy chardonay sauce 11.99

Enchilada Suizas - 3 Enchiladas filled with roasted chicken and topped with a Sour Cream Sauce. This recipe comes from the mother of Cyclone Anyas 9.99

Lobster Enchiladas- Speak for themselves 15.99

Enchiladas Florentene- Crab meat with spinach topped with a creamy white wine sauce 15.99

Chicken Lajitas- Marinated Chicken Breast smothered in a spinach artichoke sauce topped with mexican cheese have this with Rosemary Potatoes and homemade refried beans. 11.99

Lunch 5.99-7.99 1 or 2 items plus beans and rice drink included in the price ^_^

For those of you who are skeptical I challenge to go back to this restaurant and try one of the above dishes and see if you don't change your mind about the food! :P

Right now they are offering a 15% coupon to customers who come in for the first time

  4. Here is my two cents:

Some options for the Texans are:

Tag David Carr as a Franchise Player. If the Texans then decide to trade him they will not have to pick up as much of his salary.

If Carr is traded as a franchise player the Texans could pick up the 1st and 2nd pick in the draft. This is highly unlikely but possible. This would allow the Texans to Draft Reggie and Vince.

The Texans could also Draft Vince Young and keep David Carr and pick up another quality running back in the next round. Teams have shown that they can win with a running back that was not taken as a number one pick. This could be a viable option for those of you who feel Vince Young is not an NFL QB yet.

I don't think that darfting either of these players is going to make the Texas a contender next year. If the Texans Draft Vince or Reggie there will be a buzz in Houston and around the Nation. With that being said we are focusing on build for the future and I think our future is with Vince Young.

I can't wait until the day comes when Regie Bush and Vince Young face each other on opposite teams in the NFL!

  5. reggie has been proving himself all year, thats why he won the heisman. sure vince has been good this year too but reggie has been more consistent. david carr is a descent quarterback when he has a line, we need to work on that and our defense before we get rid of carr.

  7. Hello everyone. I am a long time reading of this forum. However, this is my first post.

I am a former Academy employee, I worked in the Corporate Office as a Footwear Trainer.

The first "Academy" was located where the Home office is now, which is located on N. Mason Rd. in Katy. That store was closed down and relocated to it's current location on I-10 West of Mason Rd.

Also Academy is a privately held company. There are approximately 86 stores in the US. all located in the South, and South Eastern parts of the US. Starting in Oklahoma and going all the way to Florida.

I am not sure of the future plans for that location.
