We're reverting to a pre-Depression economy in which business holds all the cards. It will take some time, but US wages will fall to the level of a nominal world wage. There will always be someone somewhere willing to do our job for less. And business will seek them out in their quest for higher margins. We're still deeply devoted to "free market capitalism", so we'll be living with the side effects a while.

For all who cook or need my help in there. You don't need four hundred knives like the ones they want to sell you at the fancy gourmet stores. You need a chef's knife, you need a paring knife, and you need a fish knife, and sharpen them please. The same with saute' pans. Depending on how many people you're serving in your house, you really need about four or five: a twelve and a ten-inch saute' pan (both nonstick), a pasta pot, and a couple of saucepans. And don't spend more money on a place...
