Original Timmy Chan's
I'm interested to see the traffic conditions tonight...there are four events going on at the same time at UH tonight: the Dynamo game, the UH-Tulane baseball game, a music performance at the Moores School of Music, and a play at the Wortham Theater on campus. UH has assigned lots for each event, and had signs up last night to direct drivers to the appropriate parking lot. By the way, Coog fans will be out there early this afternoon for the UH-Tulane game, myself included. Saturday nights of our weekend baseball series are the "Chug-a-lug Park" nights. Several hundred Coog fans will be out barbecuing and drinking beer under the oaks in the parking lot at Elgin and Cullen, directly across Cullen from the baseball stadium (or for non-sports fans, generally in front of the Moores Opera House). Tonight, UH women's basketball coach Joe Curl will be manning the pits, starting at 4:00 pm for the 7:00 pm baseball game.I don't know if Dynamo fans get out early to tailgate, but Chug-a-Lug Park will be in force tonight. For a few bucks you can get your fill of beer and BBQ.

DJ V Lawrence
This team is really good. Was the last game a sellout?25,000 in the 32,000 seat stadium. They should be selling out in the near future. The way they're playing, they more than deserve it.
krix
Just one take on the naming debate I haven't read anywhere yet: Lokomotive Leipzig, Dynamo Dresden, Turbine Potsdam, Red Star Belgrade, these are all perfect names for socialist clubs. So instead of a name invoking the founding of Houston and the battle of San Jacinto, you now get a socialist sounding name... I know the American soccer market isn't geared towards Europe, but at least somebody should have done their research ...
brijonmang
I know the American soccer market isn't geared towards Europe, but at least somebody should have done their research ... We may not be geared towards Europe but we sure have some similarities...at least name-wise. With FC this and Real that, at least the Houston Dynamo is original in that regard. krix
Just for fun, here are the names used in the German soccer Bundesliga: * Alemannia Aachen: Alemannia, one of the Latin names for Germany, compare French Allemagne, Spanish Alemania * DSC Arminia Bielefeld: DSC: German Sports Club, Arminius defeated the Romans in 9 AD. * TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen: TSV: Gymnastics and Game Club, Bayer refers to the company which founded it, in 1904 * FC Bayern M

Subdude
The Dynamo average attendance was lowered by a very poorly attended game on the 4th of July, and another July game that was almost rained out and delayed by an hour. First-year attendance among all MLS teams has averaged 15,702, and 17,508 excluding the former Miami franchise. Compared to 2005 attendance, Houston's 16,806 YTD average would have ranked 5th, but 2005 had two new teams. (Believe it or not, I have a spreadsheet tracking all this. )

skwatra
anyone catch the game last night? Ching put in a header in the 92nd minute (extra time) to win it. Colorado will be here next week for the second round. wish i would have been there, the crowd seemed very in to it. and the national commentators had nothing but good things to say about Robertson. Original Timmy Chan's
Its a tidy $6 if I remember correctly during Dynamo games. One of the few things about the whole experience that is expensive. $6?!? It's $7.00/beer at UH games (football/women's soccer) at Robertson Stadium! Why are UH fans getting screwed?!? I haven't had a single beer inside Robertson Stadium since they raised the prices this year. Even at last year's $5.50/beer I'd drink 2 or 3 a game. I've had many illicit Jack & cokes in the stadium this year, and many, many, many beers while tailgating, but I haven't bought a $7.00 beer yet. I can buy two six-packs of Lone Star tallboys for $7.00...why would I pay $7.00 for a single Bud Light when I could drink 12 good beers for less?!? I wonder how much concession $$$ they're losing over that decision. Anyways...for all those who are going to the Dynamo game this weekend, why not make a full weekend of it and hit the UH-Tulsa game on Saturday at 2:30 pm? It's the last regular season home game for Kevin Kolb (#7 in NCAA D-1A history in total yards...he'll be #5 all-time by the end of the game), not to mention the implications of the game. The winner of UH-Tulsa (the two top-ranked teams in CUSA) will more than likely host the CUSA Championship game later this year! Should be a hell of a game...Tulsa is a Top 25 level team (ranked #26 right now), and UH has the firepower to knock them off! Eat 'em up, COOGS!!! (and Dynamo!) Ethanra
The game is on the Fox Soccer Channel on Sunday, Ch.110 on Time Warner. The final goal by Ching was great. I am so excited about this game on Sun., the winner goes to the final game in Frisco next week. In the paper this morning their was a line or two about the Dynamo may have earned its owned stadium to be built, and I heard rumors from a customer today that their is talks about this going on. It wouldn't suprise me to see a stadium that can be used for MLS and HISD be built within the next five years.

Thanks.790 AM, 110 (fox soccer) on time warner. You may have to upgrade a package to get it. Only approx. half the games are televised, either on Fox Houston, or on Fox Soccer. Maybe next season with the Dynamo success more games will be broadcasted. The Fox soccer channel is awesome. They show many English Premier League games live and reaired. It also shows other leagues and college games live. Basicly its 24hrs of games with a few call-in soccer shows mixed in.

KimberlySayWhat
Western Conference champions! So if they win next week they will become the MLS champs? Do they only play one game? I'm not that familiar with soccer. Why will it be played in Frisco, TX? Isn't the Dallas team out? By the way, I still like the name 1836 better.
