native_Houstonian
Just got back from a weekend in Vegas (no, no one ask for a loan, I left it all there)! Anyway, went to see what Tillman had done to the Golden Nugget, located downtown Vegas. I have to say that they have done a nice job in giving the old girl a bit of a face lift. He has added a beautiful new porte cochere at one entrance, and has dressed up the interior a bit. However, the best addition has to be the new Aquarium that sits over the pool area. The 3 story water slide goes through the aquarium. Very cool. And, of course, most of his restaurants are included on the site. I know there is a Vic and Anthony's and a Grotto that are new since the last time a visited.

TJones
any photos?ok!Torvald, Casinos tend to frown on people taking pictures of their establishments, ESPECIALLY on the inside of them. Outside, take all you want. Casino floor snapping a few shots, ummmmm Vinne and Tony would like to have a word with you.

native_Houstonian
No, unfortunatley, I didn't have my camera with me. I plan on going back in the spring. If I do, I'll post pics then.
Jeebus
Read more, post less. You, of all people, should take your own advice - especially before dispensing it on someone like Torvald.
gwilson
The last time I was at the 'Nugget was for a Gordie Brown show just about this time last year (I think he has since moved to the Venetian). It certainly needed a face lift. It had lost it's mid-century charm and was full on horrid 70's from the wallpaper to the carpet. I can't even imagine what the rooms were like.I'd love to see it returned to it's original charm. That being said, I think a GREAT idea for a 'Vegas resort would be a return to the Rat Pack/Bugsy era Vegas. From the finishes, to the uniforms, to the architecture. Modern amenities in a 1950's package. It would be nice if it even had a dress code (slacks and shirt minimum/jacket and tie preferred for men and skirt/dress for women). I, for one, would visit often.
