I thought they were going to make that macys apartments or something like that. The Galleria is already one of the biggest malls in America but we should make it the biggest, I mean everything in Texas is bigger, with that being said how much room is there to expand? We could always go up like some of the new malls in China.

In addition to those listed by JJ18, new stores scheduled to open in The Galleria this summer:

Tory Burch

Lily Pulitzer

DeBeers

Ruehl

This Fall:

Hanna Andersson

Samsonite

Gifts of Texas

Hallmark Crown Store

Del Frisco's will open by the holidays

The aforementioned Martini Park also coming soon (looks pretty cool; I hope they'll incorporate an outdoor area)

Also:

Auntie Anne's

Return of Phoenix

I believe I read a while back that the University Club in The Galleria was closing. Does anyone have a clue what they plan for that space?

Martini Park appears to be very upscale. Beautiful people only? Temp Hijack but I bet Houston is right behind NYC with highest drink prices. The average in NYC is $10.00 per well drink. LA, SFO and NY are most expensive places for nighlife. Houston is trailing. Oy vey! once again.

I see house parties coming back, baby kegs anyone? >:)

well it kinda aims at a different crowd. apparently the martini park in plano is making a big hit and turning up good revenue. i'm not familiar with plano, but i was told that the location of M.P. there was attracting a lot of the yuppie crowd etc.

hopefully the galleria location will be as successful, which i can't imagine it not doing well.

the project is fairly big 6,800 sq ft w/ 552 sq ft of parking garage storage rooom

Can you give us more specifics on the location? I'm trying to picture where it will be and where their outdoor area will be.

here is a map for clarity along with some pics. and due to space layout the seating area will be facing north.

please excuse the orientation of the map.

aslong as they do something to the outside I really like what they did at Kona & Borders if only they would do that to the whole mall, & Galleria 3 is crap they should renovate it from top to bottom other than Fox Sports & Bice those stores suck Macys looks like a department store at sharpstown its really a wast of space

I like what they did with Kona but they really missed an opportunity with Borders. It looks so inviting from Westheimer but then there is NO public entrance on the sidewalk to the store! You can walk by and want to go in, but then most people won't be able to figure out how to get in.

the storefront will change but naturally there are some places where the existing stone has to remain. the windows will def. go out for the new design. i'm not much of a fan of the ext. desgin, but once it's built it may look better in person than in rendering. the interior will be pimp.

I burly saw the outside sorta entrance of Barneys Co Op I think that ghetto store Gregorys has one too. it will be pure Sex if most of the level 1 stores had outside entrances

thats kewl ... does anyone know whats gonna be next to Borders ... I heard it might be an H&M. I belive that spot infront of Dior will be De Beers. the new Guess store caters to chicks mostly .. bummer

Forth & Towne and Fila closed alredy and not to mention that spa next to Saks Fifth in Galleria 3

haha, this is o.t. but good to see someone else use some loose slang here. in the "car" community we always say "it's the sex" i was just always hesitant to use that terminology in here cuz i didn't know if anyone would understand, lol. good to see i'm not alone here in using that phrase....

trust me it will be store #119 and will open earlier next year. from my understanding it will most likely be where Eddie Bauer used to be, next to BCBG.

De Beers - opened nice store looks like a club

Versace - closed, might be renovating

Marc Ecko - will open where Duo used to be

i have some more info on stores opening & CLOSING but dont want to say anything yet.

The Banana Republic is already there...they're adding a Banana Petites and GapBody in the "old" Forth and Towne space...and btw where is this Ruehl going and when(I've heard for the past two years that it was coming to the galleria)? The one in Dallas was awesome...didn't really care for the clothes but the store itself was a really neat concept

Ruehl from my understanding will be next to abercrombie for kids and bcbg, we had some people at A&F coming to check out the space. (for some reason they were looking at some other space in the 1st level, so who knows) yeah its pretty rare , glad were getting a store.

just found out abercrombie and fitch should be building a new concept store in the galleria, called gilly hicks...they supposedly compete with AE's aerie and Victoria's Secret...not sure when they'll start construction, but the store I work in has an off-site storage that we're getting kicked out of for this new store to be part of

sorry I took so long to respond, the place I used to work at had a storage room in an area of the galleria, and our lease was not going to be renewed on news that they were going to build part of the store there. Manager said the leasing office said abercrombie was putting their fifth concept in there but it may have fell through. Ugh why can't Houston's Galleria have some of the stores that Dallas is getting. I've visited the one up there, it's nice, but the foot traffic doesn't even come close to the one here.

Uggghhh, why do so many Houstonians only notice what Dallas is getting that Houston is not, and not vice versa (which are at least their equal)?

I think that tends to happen because they DO get a lot of things before we do. That is not to say Houston doesn't EVER get anything first but from what I've observed, when many companies enter Texas, they seem to make Dallas the first stop, especially when it comes to 'trendy' things.

And let's face it, in terms of the fashion industry Dallas is a important market for this region, so it seems quite natural that they tend to have the upper hand when it comes to stores. Of course there may be a few stores here or there that Houston has that are not in Dallas, however those few are not enough for Houston to be able to claim any type of shopping advantage over Dallas.

I, frankly, do not believe that any type of "upper hand" exists between the two cities when it comes to fashion. Just because Dallas happens to get a Ruehl no. 925 before Houston does not serve as an indicator. For instance, Houston has:

the only Emporio Armani in Texas,

the only De Beers in Texas,

the only Yves Saint Laurent in the South

the only Fendi in the South,

the only Marc Ecko Cut & Sew in the South,

two True Religion Jeans stores and two Michael Kors stores, after the mall in Cypress...

and tons....more....

So, If you wanna go by label presence, I think Houston holds its own. I definitely think that the fashion seen in Houston is much more edgy, "trendy" and stylish than that of Dallas. Now, that's just my opinion - fashion and style are definitely a matter of taste; and, as someone who loves edgy street fashion, Dallas can't hold a candle to Houston. Now, if you're looking for couture or evening-wear, Dallas holds its own, even though neither city is a fashion powerhouse: only New York can truly claim that status...LA, a distant second.

But, as for my opinion...Houston > Dallas in fashion. Also, remember fashion and shopping are two very different and distinct concepts. Ruehl's clothes are ass, typically Abercrombie wear...nothing special. But, when you hit up the boutiques in the Village or the Trash & Vaudeville-type places in Montrose, it's easy to see why Houston trumps Dallas.

but I can't afford Armani, DeBeers, Fendi, etc....haha :P I do understand that Houston has a few great places, but isn't that saying about the grass being greener true? If not, I have no reason to live :P

One can argue that high fashion has never been easily attained by the middle class. You can have your Ruehl, Banana, Barney's, whatever you have; but, if you don't know how to put it together, it's as good as nothing. I just feel, from experience, that Houston is more fashion-forward, while Dallas buys what's "trendy"... Again, just a generalization from my experiences...and seeing the people that I hang out with, it may be skewed.

well i know that houstontrunk factory is moving where bag and baggage because they are the same company, and a new upscale luggage shop from the same company is going where houston trunk is. they are all owned by the bag and baggage company.

I just heard that they are building a Valentino were chanel is now and chanel is moving where ysl is. YSL is moving where that old bernni suit shop was right across the hall. There is a lot of action going on in the galleria, does anyone know if any other retail is planning on entering the market.
