Why would Troy go to the Cardinals? They have Matt Leinhart. RB's can wait for

I said Cardinals, OR Raiders. But I think he would fit the Raiders better. They in need for a quarterback.

I think Texans would go after Brady Quinn, Kevin Kolb, or a vertern Jake Plummer.

NOTE: Jake Plummer knows the same system Kubiak installed.

The only starting QB I could see te Texans go after is Plummer. After that, none. Perhaps in round 3 or 4, the Texans could go after another backup QB to groom, but the Texans have needs other than QB that need to be improved immediately. Drafting a new starting QB now will mean doing the same thing we're currently doing with Williams; teaching him the ropes so that 3-4 years from now, he'll be great (that's the idea, but we'll have 2 wait until then to see if his drafting over Young and Bush were worth it). THE TEXANS DON'T HAVE TIME TO WAIT THAT LONG. They need some new bodies that can help the Texans become a .500 team NEXT year. Perhaps another DL in the 2nd round. Perhaps a CONSISTANTLY PROVEN OL or CONSISTANTLY PROVEN RB in the 1st round like Peterson if he were still available. But the Texans don't have another year to "build". They need a playoff-possible record if they want to remain in the top 5 highest-worth teams in the NFL (a couple years ago, they were #2. Now they're #4). That doesn't mean much to some, but that's the ONLY positive thing the Texans are in the top 5 in right now <_<

DJ, I think you go after the "impact" player that everyone else might grab THIS time, Then start grabbing the O-linemen and such, and use Brady or Troy as trade bait for better linemen and a possible RB to be named later.

I say oye oye oye to that as well. Using strategy. I like that. What I didn't understand was why there was no strategy used in 2006's draft. Williams would NOT have been the first pick if the Texans traded down. We could have had more talent while picking up Williams if we were so sure he would have made a bigger impact than Bush or Young.

What I believe Kubiak's thinking to be last year was that he was positive that he had a QB with all the tools needed to get the job done, I think we had already picked up Ron Dayne(Heisman winner) at that time also to back up Dominick if he couldn't play. Kubiak believed he could work with what he had as far as offense went, AT THAT TIME. So, he concentrated on a foundation for a defense which he felt was weak. I can't say I agreed with Kubiak on going defense first, but it isn't "unheard of" to go with a Defensive player in the first 3 picks of the first round. I personally think he should have grabbed Bush to replace Dominick, and used Dom as a trade bait and loosen up some money for some real decent O-linemen, and we probably still would have had a good chance to get Mario when our turn came around again.

Out of that whole list, only person I can see trying to get is Drew (Sure Hands) Bennett.

Absolutely, but Demeco hasn't been getting double teamed all season either. He has turned out to be a fireplug for the Texan Defense though. Like I said Kubiak didn't take Williams as an impact player, it was totally leftfield to choose him, but it has paid off somewhat in that the Texan D is one of the tougher ones (against the run) although the stats don't show it, because offenses key on Williams and leaves gaps for others like Demeco to plow through.

People fail to reliaize that Mario has a bad foot injury. I forgot what it is called, but it starts with a "p." Imagine playing defensive end with one foot (I know I can't imagine that). That is what he is playing with. This type of injury is one that takes a month to heal, so you would have to be off of that foot for a month. I think he should sit the rest of the season out, and wait until this offseason to continue.

Top draft pick Mario Williams has had plenty of trouble with his feet this year and probably wishes he could buy new ones with all that money he got from the Texans on the eve of the draft. During the summer, Mario had problems with his toenails so he had some of them removed. Being a football player, Williams probably has a high pain threshhold. I think I would have needed general anesthesia to endure the pain of such a procedure. Now, midway through the season, Williams has been diagnosed with "plantar fasciitis", which sounds like something that affects people who spend too much time gardening. Physics I can talk about, Physician no I am not. So I went to the trusty internet to find out what the hell "plantar fasciitis" is and how long poor Mario must suffer with it. After redirects to several porn sites and foot fetishists, I came across "ourfootdoctor.com" which definies plantar fasciitis this way:

"Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a thick ligamentous/fibrous band on the bottom of the foot that is attached to the heel, and runs forward to insert into the ball of the foot. Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammation of this band, which usually occurs at its attachment to the heel; however, the inflammation and pain of plantar fasciitis can occur anywhere on the plantar fascia."
It goes on to say:
"The chief diagnostic sign of this problem is pain in the bottom of the heel or arch when first standing, which gradually improves with walking. This pain may later return with continued walking. The pain usually subsides after a period of rest."

So I think in other words, there's a tissue that connects the heel of your foot to the ball of the foot and it can become sore from overuse or improper pressure placed on the feet while walking. It's a problem one would expect from people who spend a lot of their day standing and walking, such as waitresses and door-to-door salesmen. You would think it's an occupational hazard to have sore feet when your job description is to rush around 320-lb. behemoths who will do anything to stop you. Would you want Flozell Adams waltzing on your Reeboks? But you can't blame plantar fasciitis on offensive linemen. Most likely, it's caused by not evenly distributing the weight on your feet. This could be from bad shoes or from planting your heel when you step rather than walking evenly on your feet or putting the toes down first. I doubt anyone is going to teach Mario how to walk. When the ball is snapped, we want him concentrating on where to find the ballcarrier rather than how to step pain-free. While there are splints and exercises that can assist you, there is no type of corrective surgery for this. Mario is not likely to miss any time with this malady but he will have to fight through the pain until it subsides. Perhaps the Texans should consider putting Dr. Scholls on the payroll to help out Williams and fellow tenderfoot Jerome Mathis. It wouldn't surprise me if there are more sore feet in the Texans' locker room but these two are the only ones getting ink about it. Hopefully, soon we can hear about Mario planting faces of opposing quarterbacks again and less about plantars fascia. But at least I got to learn about a different body part other than knee ligaments and shoulder joints.

Not to offend those tired of hearing about Willams/Bush/Young, but the Saints earlier today clinched a playoff spot (even though they lost). The Titans won today and are 7-7, and their playoff hopes are very much alive since they beat the Jaguars. The Texans are, um, at the bottom of their division

Only good thing though is that we're twice as good as we were last season <_<

What I told y'all. The Texans don't have a chance in hell on beating New England. I mean look at the score, 40-7.

David Carr has to go! No questions asked. This man SUCKS! If I were Kubiak I'll start the rookie quarterback in these last remaining two games.

Or how about the Texans pick up Jamarcus Russell in the draft! (lol) I'd really like to see that guy play for Houston... ok I'm done with my campaign

Troy Smith would be the better picc for the Texans. Here is what I would do if I were the Texans:

First off, in the first round, I would draft Troy Smith as our QB. I would try and get a trade for picks for David Carr. If not possible, just keep Carr.

If a second rounder for Cedric Benson from the Chicago Bears does not go through, then I would take either Marshawn Lynch from California or Michael Bush from Louisville (if he is available in the second round). The next five rounds, I would focus on CB and OL.

We could get Asante Samuel from the Patriots and Lance Briggs from Chicago is we try hard enough. They would help out our secondary a lot, and we could use the draft picks for sone OL. Also, if Dwight Freeney does not resign with the Colts, we could try him, too, but by that time, I think we would be above the salary cap.

They would have to win out (at Buffalo and at home vs. New England), and several other scenarios would have to play out for the Titans to make it in. It was too little, too late for 'em this year.

The Saints did clinch the NFC South today due to Carolina losing. Who else clinched a playoff spot today? >:)

With all the so called experts saying Houston appears to be the perfect whipping boy for the Pats. I am getting a funny feeling there may be an upset in Gillette Stadium. Mark my words, it will not be a blowout by the Pats, they may even get their hat brought to them!

I agree, the 33 point margin was much closer than I expected. Solid effort by the Texans. I'm told they're already working on David Carr's bust in Canton. :P
