What you are looking at is a Solider Pile with Timber Lagging retaining wall. These systems are a common way of doing soil retention on deep excavations. They are almost always left in place once construction is complete. Sometimes they are used as the backside of form work for concrete placement (if that is where your permanent wall goes). Other times the permanent wall is formed away from the lagging and the open void is back filled with soil or gravel. bobruss Posted December 2, 2017 Share Posted December 2, 2017 They're adding a third crane to the new museum addition today. There were six 18 wheelers in the procession last night onto the site. We were stuck at the light while they were escorted in by motorcycle police . Passed by this morning and they had three sections of tower up and had part of main street closed . They have just set the Anish Kapoor sculpture encased in a fairly remarkable steel crate, open. Wish I could download my images. Hindesky you'd like the crane. Huge!!. This will be an incredible tourist magnet. I stood on the sidewalk on the construction side of Montrose instead of driving by and they've taken down the screen so you begin to see how well everything is going to fit and flow into the campus.
