IntheKnowHouston
The 12,001-square-foot parcel at 1318 Westheimer Road sits on 0.78 acres. It's adjacent to McDonald's at 1302 Westheimer. On the property is a 5,200 sf building that was previously a two-story house. In recent years, it's been home to bars Royal Oak and Present Company. IntheKnowHouston
Present Company closed in January for renovations. Last week, CultureMap published an article announcing Roswell's Saloon. In the article, owner Shawn Bermudez shared he sold Present Company: Bermudez quietly sold Present Company, his Instagram-beloved bar on Westheimer, in November (its new owners temporarily closed the bar in January for renovations). Having operated the space as both Royal Oak and Present Company since 2010, Bermudez says moving on was difficult but necessary. https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/roswell-s-saloon-montrose/

Earlier this year, Present Company shared it's temporarily closing on its social media platforms. During the closure, the bar, located at 1318 Westheimer, stated it will undergo renovations. There was an update on Instagram in March. The update included a photo of what appears to be sneak peek at ongoing renovations. There was another teaser photo shared that month. Other teaser photos and videos have been posted to the bar's Instagram stories for several weeks. However, about two or three weeks ago, with the exception of the two aforementioned photos, the other photos pertaining to Present Company were removed from the bar's Instagram. Present Company's Facebook was removed entirely (or deactivated from public view). Additionally, the website is no longer available. Still, Present Company is the displayed name on the bar's Instagram. While Google Maps indicates Present Company is temporarily closed and its Instagram suggests it's coming back, it's not. Present Company is permanently closed. Edited June 3 by IntheKnowHouston

However, Present Company is not coming back. It's closed. In place of Present Company, the new owners will reopen the bar at 1318 Westheimer as Darna.

There is a recent Google Maps listing for Darna at 1318 Westheimer Rd. It's labeled as a Moroccan restaurant. But who knows? It may be a bar with a Moroccan menu. I suppose more details will be revealed to the public soon. https://goo.gl/maps/Lexb3DLdKPogUEVP7 Edited June 5 by IntheKnowHouston

Last month, a domain was registered for darnahtx.com. It's likely the person/group who are remodeling the former Present Company space at 1318 Westheimer will change Present Company's Instagram username to Darnahtx in the coming weeks. There is a blurb about Present Company's closure in an Eater Houston article today. Darna opens later this year in place of Present Company at 1318 Westheimer. A representative for Shawn Bermudez...said he sold the bar to Gatsby’s Hospitality Group in November 2022. The Gatsby’s restaurant group also owns Gatsby’s Prime Seafood, Gatsby’s steakhouse, and Gatsby’s Grill. https://houston.eater.com/23550172/houston-restaurant-closures-2023

Darna replaces Present Company at 1318 Westheimer Rd. The bar's new owners are reportedly Gatsby's Hospitality Group. In regards to Darna's concept, there are clue in its Instagram bio. The forthcoming concept is an "experimental cocktail club." Edited June 9 by IntheKnowHouston
IntheKnowHouston
Does anyone have insight pertaining to Malibu? Supposedly it's also planned for 1318 Westheimer. I'm not sure what Malibu is exactly. However, there is an Instagram for Malibu. Earlier this week, Malibu posted "coming soon" in their first Instagram post. An address or neighborhood wasn't included. The Instagram bio is also lacking details. https://www.instagram.com/malibuhtx

It's located in the building previously home to Present Company and Royal Oak. While Malibu has not posted anything to Instagram since mid-late June, tagged posts paints a clearer picture of what the concept entails. Sadly, it looks likes it's more of a club than a bar. I think Malibu serves food. As for Darna, I don't think that's moving forward, at least not at 1318 Westheimer Rd. Darna's Instagram is no longer visible as of a few days ago. According to Darna's Instagram, an experimental cocktail bar was planned for the former Present Company space.
