Ross
I ran across this, and it struck me for some reason. Metropolitan stadium in Minneapolis was built on spec in the mid-50's, waiting for a team to move there. Sort of a "if you build it, they will come" thing. Built on 160 acres of farm land in Bloomington, it ended up being the new home of the Washington Senators, renamed the Minnesota Twins The home plate location from this stadium now sits inside the Mall of America, commemorated by a brass plaque in the shape of home plate. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Metropolitan+Stadium+Home+Plate/@44.8552593,-93.2441367,1247m/data=!3m2!1e3!5s0x87f62f6c391abe2b:0xc67197b91cc6e394!4m5!3m4!1s0x87f62fbe50b673d3:0xe6f1c9031a9a4bd6!8m2!3d44.85483!4d-93.2419947 1
