So I asked the worker in the pic what this was going to be, he said something BB cajun food, If you look up Boz Partners it is Brooks Bassler owner and creator of BB's Cajun Kitchen. His first store was on Montrose between the Valero gas station and Pepperoni's Pizza. He now has about 15 locations. His original restaurant is tiny and I guess he outgrew it and will be moving to the old Osaka Sushi location. Worker counted about 20 tables and a bar by the front, kitchen in the middle back and restrooms to the left of the worker.

That location was outgrown before it even opened. Even if I was the only customer it still felt jam-packed. I'm glad that it's turned out to be a success and the new former Osaki looks like a more suitable size.

B&B Donut in a suite further down in the same shopping center has been locked out for non payment of rent.

Really sorry to hear that. They were nice people, and served good food at reasonable prices.

Talked with the contractor building the patio, he said most of will have a roof except around the tree. It will have a railing and they will build a wall and enclosure around the trash bin. Sign company is prepping to install the sign sometime this week. Glass has been installed in the doorway.

I LOVE that they love Montrose so much! While it was cool to have that little "hole in the wall" location, i congratulate them on their new location due to so much success! 👏

Hmmmmm

I like  the idea of this place and  would like it to succeed- for me when I had  gumbo as a kid......the roux was really brown- dark brown with lots of okra.

This gumbo was okay but not like when I was a kid.

well dang! and yeah that is exactly the way i like my gumbo! the darker the better! Miller's in Galveston on the seawall is my go to place and while it's 45 min to an hour away, it's worth it haha!

"On this week's episode of "What's Eric Eating," BB's Tex Cajun founder and CEO Brooks Bassler joins CultureMap food editor Eric Sandler to discuss the growing Cajun/Creole restaurant. Over the course of 15 years, BB's Tex-Orleans has grown from one, nine-table restaurant in Montrose to 14 locations in Houston and San Antonio."

"Last year, we sold almost 1.3 million pounds of crawfish. When we're humming, we're selling 70,000 pounds per week," Bassler says. "What we've found is dedicated one individual to the purchasing and sourcing has been key, because he keeps his fingers on the pulse of weather conditions in the ponds by region and buys around the problematic issues."
