@hindesky this is part of the development with White Oak Music Hall. There are posts about it in that thread dating back to 2016 along with the other places that are part of this: Raven Tower and Sideout.

I've talked to the owner of this project. He claims he is in no way associated with White Oak Music Hall.

Right. I know Black Page Brewing is leasing the land. Swamplot reported it in 2016. However, the brewpub was marketed as being a part of the overall development consisting of White Oak Music Hall, Raven Tower, and Sideout Volleybar. It was included on W2 Development's website as part of the overall development too (though it was later removed around 2018 or 2019).

I understand plans change. And since the buildout has taken over six years now, initial plans may have evolved, scaled back, or altered in other ways.

Since there was a separate topic created for Black Page Brewing, here are the previous discussions about it from the White Oak Music Hall thread:

The group behind WOMH has something planned for this site on Glen Park and Hyacinth. Subdivision plat dubbed "Coyote Acre" on the planning commission spreadsheet.

Oh yea, thought I had mentioned it last year. Planned to be a nightclub/bar in the neighborhood. They've already applied and received a liquor license for here.

TABC has a pending application for "Black Page Brewing Co." at 210 Glen Park Street. This would presumably be the site.  Craft brewers guild website has the same address:

https://texascraftbrewersguild.org/members

This would be pretty awesome to have this nearby the WOMH. One more reason to walk over from the rail.

You are correct. Meant to post this the other week.

From this thread, it seems like there will be numerous of bars within this project. Did I analyze this correctly?

Is it a unspoken rule any bar with coyote in the name comes with volleyball?

On 10/26/2016 at 4:37 PM, Triton said:

Yea guess I haven't updated anything here yet. There won't be a bar going into the neighborhood. It will be this brewpub and it's actually been planned to be a brewpub for quite a while. The Coyote Acre name actually has nothing to do with the type of place it is going to be but actually deals with the amount of sighted coyotes on this property. I've heard at least 4 coyotes (possibly a few pups) have been spotted here. Currently, there is only one other bar popping up... that being the volleyball bar across the creek next to their parking lot.

Oh absolutely. Little White Oak Bayou is actually really nice. If they added a bike trail and cleaned up the trash, it would look incredible. Here's a blurry shot I have of it:

Separately, has anybody heard anything new about Black Page Brewing? Triton showed the site being almost ready back in June. I would have thought that it would be open (or about to open) by now, particularly with restrictions being lifted.

I am not allowed to say too much because there are watchful eyes on this forum but Black Page Brewing has had a number of issues, some out of their control. They can't even get right-of-way to their building at the moment and there is a long back and forth between the city, the nearby neighbors, and a few other "actors". I actually feel sort of bad for Black Page Brewing because the White Oak Music Hall group promised them a lot of stuff and have so far underdelivered. I know I didn't really say much but that's about as much as I can say. Perhaps more info will hit the Chron.

I can only imagine @Triton! oy! thank you for the update though! hopefully this can all be worked out as this really is becoming such a cool area  (and ps...the Justin/Blue October shows went super well even with the new covid/socially distanced rules and set up! such a fun weekend! I will definitely keep an eye out for more shows there)

Thanks Triton.
I really hope they can work out their differences with the neighbors, whatever those may be, as well as finding better alignment with WOMH's management. It would be a shame for the project to never see the light. It seemed from your photos that they had already sunk a sizable amount of capital. As Gene said, I also tend to think their presence would be a net positive for the area.

Mods can this topic be moved to Near North and merge any other posts made about it. @Highrise Tower @Urbannizer  @Triton

Edit: I put it here before the "Near North" topic had been created.

Talked with a worker who said they were in no way affiliated with White Oak Music Hall. It opened on Friday 7th, Oct. They don't make any food but plan to have rotating food trucks show up.

That's actually a point I clarified a few weeks ago. Black Page is not related to White Oak (although they are leasing the land from White Oak). So, the truth of the matter is that Black Page should become it's own topic and moved to the Northside topic. And possible White Oak Music Hall should be moved there too, again as it's own topic.

Well folks, sad news: after only 10 months open, it seems it's the end of the (short) road for Black Page. They're closing down:

Bummer, it was a pretty cool spot. But unless you were at a show at WOMH it was a pretty inconvenient location, especially with concert traffic many nights.
Seems like the brewery bubble is finally bursting to some degree in Houston, this one joins CounterCommon, Bakfish, Battlehops, Fetching Lab, Cycler’s, Wicked Boxer, Twisted Acre, and possible a few others to shut down in the last year or so.

Now we just need to get Little White Oak cleaned up and restored. It's basically a ditch at the moment.

That would significantly clean up the area. The city set aside a few million dollars when WOMH moved in to clean up the creek but they never did anything with that money.
