Popular Post Triton
It would appear everything is finished now. I am guessing they are waiting for the pandemic to be over? hindesky
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FROM DISCOVERY GREEN AND GREEN MOUNTAIN ENERGY SUN CLUB! Monday, August 17 at 7:30 pm Tune in at the Discovery Green Facebook page for a look at the new Green Mountain Energy Sun Club Grand Allée. The online event features a special performance by Sarah Grace, a Kinder HSPVA student and semi-finalist on The Voice. Welcoming visitors entering at the northwest corner of the park, the new allée features approximately 70 pick-up stick LED light fixtures of varying lengths suspended from the tree canopy. HtownWxBoy
Took a walk through the park last night... such a nice addition! The new lighting is really bright... looks great at night. Will be even nicer once the fence around the new playground comes down.
hindesky
A new art display in the works. Came across a bunch of QAnon idiots protesting against one of their conspiracies theories. Lots of police to keep them in check in case they do something stupid.
hindesky
The construction netting was coming down around the new children's area. The art display was using ratchet straps to tie down the cards.

samagon
has anyone noticed that they have signs at every entrance that say "NO SCOOTERS"? this is not a big deal, what is a big deal, is that in an attempt to keep scooters out, they have placed those industrial power cord covers (the black and yellow plastic 'bumps') across every entrance. I wonder how long before someone trips over one of those and gets some injury lawyer involved? even a wayward scooter that bumps over one of those, face plants into the pavement, and breaks and arm would have every right to sue. this is a bad idea on whoever's part did it.

txtiger
Hate to gripe about anything, but who approved this play equipment...: https://www.chron.com/houston/article/Discovery-Green-renovated-playground-16047416.php?IPID=Chron-HP-CP-Spotlight ...when these equip aesthetics exist: https://www.playlsi.com/en/commercial-playground-equipment/playgrounds/pioneer-park/#playgroundstory https://www.playlsi.com/en/commercial-playground-equipment/playgrounds/signal-butte-park/ (DG's new play features have a terrible color palate for the location, and the equipment is way too standard-fare.)

H-Town Man
Maggie Daley Park in Chicago is the best I've seen. On a different level from this one (but way more space... perhaps an idea for the freeway cap park?). The new playground seemed much too small and the structures were not fun at all. The old playground was much more functional. We had high hopes but left disappointed.

hindesky
Mural, it seems to be for people and companies that donated $20k. Artist is Nicky Davis.
hindesky
The east side of downtown was packed with cars and people. As I approached I thought to myself, the Astros are in Seattle why are there so many people downtown? Turns out GRB had another Volley Ball tournament and what looked like a fishing convention. Discovery Green had the annual Earth Day event going on. Looks like downtown is coming back. Earth Day murals in progress. 5

BeerNut
Supposedly these fines are $200 but saw several people on scooters in Discovery Green. A busker was playing piano behind this sign which which surprised me for Houston.
wilcal
Love how their signs are likely in the city ROW. I wonder if the HPD officer on duty would ticket them for that? The one I saw on the SW corner definitely was blocking a bit of the sidewalk.
hindesky
A new art exhibit in Discovery Green "Celebración de Vida by MEXICRÁNEOS".
