Coffee & Bikes

Recommended Posts

Hey HAIFers, just wanted to let yall know my buddies and I host a bike ride on Sunday mornings and we stop at local coffee shops along the route. Not only is it a great way to start the day but it also helps local small business owners. All are welcome to join. More info on our Instagram page. https://instagram.com/coffee.and.bikes?utm_medium=copy_link

I was just thinking that someone should organize a group ride through the new Memorial Park tunnel.

This evening about 9:30pm or so the parking lot at the Target on San Felipe filled up with riders from a ride coming out of downtown.  We were leaving and I asked a guy what ride it was but he didn't say, just that they started downtown.  Looked like a lot of fun.  Any idea what group rode downtown to the Galleria area last night?

Clutch City Riders. It pretty much has replaced the old Critical Mass ride.

Critical Mass ride shut down during the first covid shut down but these riders still wanted to ride and it has slowly getting bigger and bigger and is huge now. It consist of mostly cruisers bikes but I've seen all kinds of bikes mixed in. My buddy who owns a shop in Galveston "Island Bicycle Company" on the Seawall is one of the few dealers of the SE line of bikes which are adult sized cruiser bikes. He sometimes show up with his van full of bike accessories to sell the riders. I've never done the ride but have seen them all converging at Market Square park on Thursday night.

He used to own a shop in Rice Village but sold it about 7 yrs ago cause the rent at the time was $5000 a month. He is BOI so he opened a shop in Galveston.

Critical Mass still happens. My buddy was asked to lead it this past Friday but his team is too small, so Rachet Riders picked it up. It's a big honor to get asked to lead Critical Mass. It basically means your team has grown large enough to handle that many people and manage the entire route.
