hindesky
Good, hopefully they are successful. Chicago import. Looks like they have a restaurant in Katy and Bellaire already but there is another place with a similar name but spelled "Lao Szechuan" with no spaces between. I wonder if they are the same place the logo looks the same? The Chicago area website ....https://laoszechuanusa.com The Texas locations.......https://laoszechuantx.com

I checked both spellings on Google and the only reference to Sze Chuan I could find was from the Hungarian (!), where it means 'Szechuan'. It seems likely that the graphic artist made a kerning error. (Or is Hungarian) .

Eater Houston reported this in August. The article revealed Lao Size Chuan's plans to expand to Montrose. Eater reported the inner loop location would be in the Hawthorne Square shopping center, 3407 Montrose Blvd. Blurb: “ 'The plan is to open in Dallas and Austin, with three more locations in Houston next year,' says Darren Ren, another representative of the company. At present, a Montrose location is currently in the works at 3407 Montrose Boulevard, but construction and other delays related to COVID-19 have made it difficult to predict an opening date with accuracy." https://houston.eater.com/2021/8/30/22648299/lao-sze-chuan-chinese-restaurant-open-katy-chicago Edited January 22, 2022 by IntheKnowHouston

This was reported by several local news outlets when the Katy location opened over the summer. From Eater Houston: "Lao Sze Chuan has expanded its footprint with additional locations in Illinois, Minnesota, and Connecticut. “We will open 10 more locations in the next couple of years,” Jack Deng, Lao Sze Chuan Katy’s general manager, tells Eater. IntheKnowHouston
Mods, for continuity, you may want to consider merging this thread with an older thread about this same property. Also, may want to consider renaming the thread to Hawthorne Square, the name of the shopping center where this is located. @Urbannizer@Highrise Tower https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/31915-berryhills-on-montrose-closed Edited January 24, 2022 by IntheKnowHouston

The schezuan craze is overdone and way too saturated inside the loop at this point. I’d much rather see more casual Indian/Pakistani restaurants inside the loop.

clutchcity94
Isn’t the inside-the-loop Schezwan trend overdone at this point? My God, can someone open a high quality casual Indian place instead?
hindesky
Main Bird is coming to the old Einstein Bagels location. Glad to see a hot chicken place I can walk to. I have been getting my fix at either Dave's Hot Chicken Midtown, Gus's World Famous on Washington Ave. or Cook Shack on Washington Ave. https://mainbirdhotchicken.com
