hindesky
It has some nice street art on the back fence. Wonder what is going to be built. Townhomes most likely.
Andrew Ewert
Dang, that sucks :/ I've always liked this building and the mural on its side. 1
HoustonMidtown
They painted over the murals a few weeks ago - it's an interesting shade of purple now.... I always thought it could be made into cool lofts or apartments Edited December 20, 2021 by HoustonMidtown

HoustonMidtown
The structure to the right of the building (in the first pic) has been removed....it appears the purple building is being prepped for demo -- all the windows and doors are open
hindesky
House to the right is gone, wish they could save the building but they could probably fit 8-10 townhomes in the whole lot.
Texasota
That building looks like at least a fourplex, so it's less an increase in density than it is replacing naturally affordable housing with significantly larger, more expensive units.
brucesw
A topic concerning the history of the Black school on this site (purple building replaced the original in 1918) has been posted in Historic Houston.
HoustonMidtown
Maybe the demo permit was for the structure to the side that was removed a while ago. It appears someone is still living in the purple building
Bmill
This property is being used by local street artist Gonzo247. If you look at Google Maps now it is labeled as “Aerosol Warfare & GONZO247”. It seems he is using it as a Gallery location. Interestingly, HCAD shows the owner as “1004 Palmer LLC”.
