Andrew Ewert
Maybe this isn't quite the right forum for this, but does anyone have any recommendations for flight schools in the Houston area? I've gotten interested in pursuing a PPL and would love to hear if any others have first-hand experience.
hindesky
@Andrew Ewert The Central Campus of San Jacinto College has a pilot training certificate. I knew 3 friends that were training to be pilots there, I actually took all the classes but didn't have the money to continue with the flying portion at the time. All 3 got their private pilots and commercial licenses but 2 didn't continue with it and do other things now. The 1 guy became an air traffic controller until he retired, he worked at IAH. https://www.sanjac.edu/sites/default/files/documents/catalog_technical_programs0607.pdf

freundb
There are a number around here as I've been looking as well. Will at least do a discovery flight. I'm a bit of a nervous flier but super interested in planes. One way I've worked on my fear is learning about planes and flying procedures. Next step is to get in one and fly it. These are on my list: https://www.txflight.com/ https://www.unitedflight.com/ http://www.westhoustonairport.com/flightschool/flightschool.shtml https://americanflyers.com/houston-tx/
Tumbleweed_Tx
I did a discovery flight at the West Houston airport. I think it was 10 years ago. The main thing I discovered is that I'm blind as a bat, but the flight, and taking the controls for a few minutes, was very enjoyable.
