It spurs unpleasant memories of the Gawd-awful Z-Brick that was popular a few decades ago (I understand that it has improved somewhat). scarface
So no one else is noticing that this is appearing to be another B.S. suburban style development for Midttown🤢? Please tell me I'm missing something. Edited September 23, 2022 by scarface

Now or Never is one of several bars / clubs opening on this property. I posted about it last year, though some of the concepts planned have been replace by others: 👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿 On 11/21/2021 at 7:43 AM, IntheKnowHouston said: Pretty Liar and El Capi, both planned for 3030 Travis St are bar or night club concepts from newly formed Union Station Hospitality Group. Another concept named Anita is possibly planned for the former Midtown Shoppes property at 3030 Travis St. They have another Midtown bar planned for Milam named Hepburn's. Union Station Hospitality Group is also working on a bar or night club named Now or Never. I don't know yet if that project will be located at 3030 Travis, somewhere on Milam, or elsewhere in Midtown. The 3030 Travis St property (Midtown Shoppes) is owned by the Kirby Group (TKG Holdings). The group purchased the property this year. However, there aren't any plans to house a Kirby Group concept on the property. I think Kirby Group leased a few spaces to Union Station Hospitality Group for their upcoming projects. The future goal is a boutique hotel for the 3030 Travis St property. That could happen in the next ten years or so. Edited October 13, 2022 by IntheKnowHouston

hindesky
Looks like a parking area for a food truck. Didn't the Truck Yard in Eado have a problem with permitting food trucks with a roof over them?

This set-up doesn't look like it would have any issues.

It's likely it is construction for another bar. Back in April, the city approved plans for a 5,831 sf restaurant convert and rooftop patio addition at 3030 Travis St, Suite B. According to the project description, this is for a 5,831 sf restaurant convert and rooftop patio addition. PDA is under construction at 3030 Travis St, Ste B. It's a lounge / club from Houston's latest nightlife team PDA Hospitality. Last week, PDA added an Instagram bio and profile photo. The forthcoming nightlife venue also uploaded several Instagram stories. According to its Instagram account, PDA is billed as an ultra lounge. I think it's a rooftop lounge. Videos shared in Instagram stories last week noted 6,000 sf of rooftop space. Although PDA's Instagram doesn't include an address (and there aren't DBA, alcohol permits, or anything else online confirming an address), the videos show the location as being at 3030 Travis St. PDA is slated to open in late 2023, but I think early 2024 or next spring is more realistic. https://www.instagram.com/pdahtx Edited September 3 by IntheKnowHouston
IntheKnowHouston
Below are screenshots of PDA's construction progress. The screenshots are from videos the lounge posted a few days ago in several Instagram stories. PDA is a lounge / club from PDA Hospitality. It will be located at 3030 Travis St, Ste B. Nightlife spots Pretty Liar and Now and Never are located in the same development as PDA.

The sports made its debut last fall at 3030 Travis St. It's one of two nightlife concepts from Union Station Hospitality Group (Pretty Liar at 3017 Milam being the other) PDA Hospitality is either taking over the space soon or has already leased it. I'm not entirely certain. As for plans for the space, the bar will undergo some remodeling. PDA Hospitality will keep the sports bar concept, but not the name. The new name of the bar will be 40 Love. There aren't building permits, alcohol permits, or a trade name filing for this yet (at least, I have not come across any). An Instagram account for 40 Love launched last month. The exact location of the sports bar is not included in the bio. Along with 40 Love, PDA Hospitality is working on a rooftop lounge named PDA. As noted in above posts, it will be located at 3030 Travis St, Ste B. Additionally, the nightlife team has plans for a country dance hall concept named Bandits. I'm not certain if Union Station Hospitality Group will continue to manage Pretty Liar or not. Together with Pretty Liar plus Now and Never, the hospitality group also were planning to open Anita and El Capi. Both were slated for the same development. However, neither nightlife concepts materialized. https://www.instagram.com/40lovehtx https://www.40lovehtx.com Edited September 5 by IntheKnowHouston

IntheKnowHouston
Along with Now or Never, Pretty Liar will also undergo a rebrand. Last week, Aura Hospitality Group announced plans for a new night club and bar to its roster. Their latest nightlight venture is Circa. It will open at 3017 Milam St, a space Pretty Liar currently occupies. Pretty Liar is the second nightlife concept from Union Station Hospitality Group that's either rebranding. I'm not sure if Union Station Hospitality has disbanded or not. As noted last week, Union Station Hospitality Group' other concept Now or Never is becoming 40 Love. The sports bar at 3030 Travis is a joint venture between PDA Hospitality and Aura Hospitality Group. Both 40 Love and Circa are located in the same retail center. https://www.instagram.com/circahouston/ On another note, @Urbannizer @Triton please consider merging this topic with the following one that's also about 3030 Travis St. The topic is about the same property as this one. https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/33002-future-redevelopment-site-at-3030-travis-st Edited September 13 by IntheKnowHouston
