Ojala East Riverside: Mixed-Use Development

Located directly off the Buffalo Bayou to the North-West of downtown Houston, Ojala East Riverside is part of a multi-phase development. The residential building gives way to 5 courtyards. The project’s main feature is the large 11,000 SF active courtyard that connects to the 12,000 SF pool courtyard through a large breezeway. Inspired by the Buffalo Bayou that is within feet of the project, a 200 FT linear water feature begins at the leasing center, flows through the breezeway and transitions into a 2,500 SF pool within the pool courtyard. The pool is equipped with 2 lounge shelves, a dipping pool, grand steps, and an infinity edge looking over the Bayou and Downtown Houston. The project also features 3 grills, a yoga deck and fitness lawn, large unit yards, 3 fire pits, an entertainment area, outdoor kitchen, lush plantings inspired by the bayou plant palette, and a wide variety of seating opportunities. Additionally, a plaza area, along with streetscape elements will be included that will connect to the following phases of the development.

GFF is the landscape architect for the project-which is why only that aspect of the development is detailed.

Trying to visualize where that is and not having any luck. Anyone know where this development is supposed to be going?

Educated guess:  North side of the Bayou, West of Jensen, East of the train tracks.  Good downtown view, across the Bayou.

It does, but I believe that that is a misprint.  The name of the project is "East Riverside"...and the location that I am guessing, is just across the street from "East River".

Don't get too caught up in guessing the location. The name translates as "Hopefully" East Riverside, so they don't seem too sure about where it will be yet... 😂 I'll show myself out

I know there were some variance request signs on that property (west of Jensen), but I didnt get a good look at the details. Wonder if this is related.

Yes, I know this is tedious nitpickery on my part, but NO Houstonian would ever say "the Buffalo Bayou." Just say "Buffalo Bayou" and not sound like you're from Dallas.

Agree. It’s like when people say “the Third Ward, etc” lol. No one from Third Ward says that. It’s just Third Ward, Fifth Ward, etc.

Although old-timers will sometimes say "the Montrose," short for "the Montrose Area." And, of course, "the Heights."
