Couldn't find a topic on this, looks like some new mixed-use development is planned for the old Moncrief Lenoir manufacturing building across Lyons from St. Arnold. Cool old building, lots of potential. Can't find much detail on it yet.

It's just for sale. Doesn't mean anything's happening. It's a great building and a no-brainer for some sort of loft renovation but other developments in the area like Warehouse District and the stuff on Navigation are better positioned location-wise. This will not benefit from NHHIP in the short-term, assuming that happens.

That's not 2001 Lyons. 2001 Lyons is the lot on the other side of Semmes Street to the West. This is 2103 Lyons. Look at the address above the red door on the brick building, which has had the metal cladding removed.

Address corrected

Where did you see surface parking?

More information from a City Council Economic Development Committee presentation.

This is so exciting! Meow Wolf began in Santa Fe with a donation by George R R Martin (of Game of Thrones fame) and now includes exhibits in Las Vegas and Denver as well. Houston is a perfect expansion spot for them, especially considering Martin has pledged his entire life's work to Texas A&M and spends some time in College Station. I'm going to the Santa Fe location next month and cannot wait to check this out when it opens!

There's a brochure on the website with a decent amount of parking in the back.

We are competing against several other cities to be Location #4.  (With this information about the founder, I like our chances.)  Mentioned cities included Atlanta, Charlotte. The city choice is supposed to be announced within 20 days, IIRC.

Very exciting, really hope they choose Houston. Was just at the Sante Fe Meow Wolff last month and it was a lot of fun! Think it would be a great addition here for both locals and tourists.

MW has been considering Houston as an expansion since 2017. At that time they also considered Austin, LA, Denver, and LV. Two of those are now open. Houston is probably a lock.

For example, see:

And to an extent Austin has already (albeit temporarily) happened with their SXSW exhibit.

Per the Dallas Morning News  (yes, the Dallas Morning News, not our pathetic local paper), Meow Wolf will open in Houston in 2024.  Also planning to open one in Grapevine, Texas (Grapevine Mills shopping mall to be exact) in 2023.

Love the fact that Houston's will be in the Fifth Ward, while "Dallas's" will be in suburban Grapevine, in a shopping mall . . .
