HoustonIsHome
How will West creek and it's neighbors affect Afton Oaks? Its a charming neighborhood, but I wouldn't mind if it wasn't there. Its one area I wouldn't mind seeing large scale demolition of all those period homes. I felt dirty saying that. I need a shower now.

Without them, Uptown wouldn't be the same.

nativehoustonion
Screw Afton Oaks. They are building these ugly track mansions, and then they think they live in River Oaks. We need the University Rail line to stop at Shepard. Then build a tollway right down Richmond through their area to connect to the Westpark Tollway. And screw Culberson!

nativehoustonion
It is true. They need to do something on Richmond in Afton Oaks. Potholes everywhere and flooding. They should build it over the rail road line. With million dollars homes. Tollway sounds fine to me. Ask Culberson?

MikeRichardson
What is their definition of "construction"? Right now we have empty apartment buildings, and I know for a fact that it takes them about 3-4 months to take down one of these buildings: obligatory wasting of time, appliance removal, wasting time, asbestos abatement, wasting time, further scrappage/prep, wasting time, and actual demolition.
LTAWACS
Mike, usually projects like this have a little lead time built in. Should probably be kept to a minimum but it happens.

Urbannizer
This article is a few months old, but this part seems interesting: "The building is designed to efficiently meet the needs of end users in a simple geometric form, with a skin that transforms throughout the day and night in a lively interplay with the surrounding development,” said Andy Kim, project designer at BOKA Powell. http://www.officenewswire.com/14666

MikeRichardson
It is my understanding, that a new road will connect the West Loop Feeder, Northbound to Westcreek Ln, and the new Peloton office tower will be built in consideration of said new road.

allthingshouston
I think this demolition that you see is Randall Davis' new 100-unit Westcreek condo tower. As much I would have LOVED to see the office tower get up and running, I believe that Peloton had an option on the land, announced the Westcreek Centre office tower, was unable to get financing in order, the option ran out, and the land owner did not extend it. So I think this is a dead project.

houstontexasjack
I thought the HBJ reported that Randall Davis' condominium was on the 1.8 acre parcel he purchased along San Felipe: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/09/29/exclusive-new-luxury-condominium-high-rise-planned.html The Westcreek Tower was to be on the 3.7 acre parcel abutting Westcreek and the northbound West Loop feeder.

houstontexasjack
So, this tower is dead. However, is the RD tower going to be on the Westcreek center site or the site abutting San Felipe? Edit: It occurs to me that allthingshouston may have referred to demolition on this site as a laydown for the Randall Davis tower, similar to the bulldozing that occurred on the Landry's HQ site that was used for the Astoria's construction. Edited October 9, 2014 by houstontexasjack
cloud713
Yeah I think he means this will be the lay down as well? Idk. I'm not overly bummed, the tower was kind of mediocre, not very tall, and didn't really interact with "Westcreek". Maybe well get something better?
