77011transplant
Noticed they demolished the warehouse at 5601 Canal the other week. They've made good progress in clearing the space. It's the future site of mixed-income housing called the Canal Lofts. 150 units and a senior (?) community (http://www.blazerbuilding.com/portfolio/construction/) Their website says spring 2021, but I'm sure that's been pushed back since they haven't even fully cleared the land yet. Some more info from CoH about funding: https://houstontx.gov/housing/communication/2020/plain/0622.html Will try to snap some photos next time we walk past. 5601canal.pdf Edited February 28, 2021 by 77011transplant
77011transplant
Ignore the fact this was taken from the passenger side of the car as we were driving past. Lol.
77011transplant
Walked past again today. They've leveled the plot now. The construction notice has the completion date as May 2022.

ljchou
Why does every affordable housing complex look the exact same?

Houston has so much ground to cover in just happy for the density. I am more disappointed when crap goes in more prime areas. Like when I'm expecting a trophy tower to go up next to Market Square and I get a parking garage. But those rubber stamped affordable housing that are popping up all over the place??? Bring them on. We don't have enough of them
j_cuevas713
These seem to continue looking better than the renderings. All of this affordable housing looks pretty damn decent and is great infill. I hope the one in Midtown on Caroline looks just as good.

Nothing ground breaking but a good addition IMO.
