I cannot wait to have a sizable property/lot at a somewhat prime location developed into something that does not contribute to the tax base and that I would never, ever step foot in. Awesome. (Okay, maybe I'm being a bit overdramatic) 1 2 3
Texasota
Maybe they'll do like Ecclesia and have a nice coffee shop. Or a thrift shop or something...
ljchou
@thedistrict84 As for now, I'm still of the mindset that anything is better than abandoned buildings. Though I agree with your sentiment
ATH
This could be a really interesting project. Transforming a former meat packing facility into a church. I would imagine it has a lot of possibilities.
wilcal
The webpage is down on the church's website. Also, HCAD not showing a transaction since 5/17/2017. Maybe the deal fell through? Edit: It is still listed at the bottom of each of their pages. Edited March 13, 2021 by wilcal

There are approved building permits as of late 2020 and even more signs on the Eastern side of the property. I'd give it time.

ljchou
It was a Nextdoor post saying cop cars, fire trucks and hazardous material vehicles were at the property. Was curious if anyone knew what was up.
ATH
I hear they are open. Has anyone seen how this one turned out? It started as a really rough old meat market.

And a couple weeks ago, I was driving past and there was a small congregation out front (not sure if it was an opening celebration?). I'm currently out of town, but I'll snap a pic when I get back (unless someone else does first!)
