Last year, Sekai Hospitality announced plans to open a night club named Wyld Chld at 5922 Washington Ave. The building was last occupied by the Classic restaurant.

Houston Chronicle reported this last summer:

Boasting 7,500 square feet, WYLD CHLD will offer a main floor and stage, patio and rooftop terrace that promises a luxury experience in an intimate setting. It is set to open in the early fall of 2021.

I don't know if Wyld Chld is moving forward here or not.

About two months after the announcement of Wyld Chld, a social media account for night club Citizen in Houston was created. Teaser posts  indicated the Dallas-based club from Milkshake Concepts is expanding to Houston Sekai Hospitality was tagged in the photos.

An address wasn't listed for Citizen in any of the teaser Instagram posts or Citizen's Houston website. But a recent job listing shows the address for Citizen as 5922 Washington Ave.

I wonder if this demo is to provide more parking for the Wyld Child club?

Wyld Chld is not moving forward at 5922 Washington Ave. I speculated last month in the post directly above yours that it probably wasn't.

Citizen, a nightclub concept from Dallas based hospitality group Milkshake Concepts, has promoted their Houston expansion plans on Instagram since September. As noted in my previous post, job listings for Citizen give the address that was previously planned for Wyld Chld.

Yesterday, Milkshake Concepts sent press releases to local news organizations announcing Citizen's impending arrival to 5922 Washington Ave this spring (although I informed publications like Houston Business Journal, Papercity Magazine, Citybook, Houston Chronicle, Houston Press, and Eater Houston about it in March).

CultureMap provided more context behind the change from Sekai Hospitality's Wyld Chld to Milkshake Concepts' Citizen:

"Originally, plans called for The Classic's space to be converted into WYLD CHLD, which would have shared ownership with Sekai, the nightclub that opened in EaDo last fall. However, the investment group behind both projects ended its relationship with the Las Vegas-based hospitality group that was developing WYLD CHLD, according to a representative. The investors turned to Milkshake to operate the space."

Citizen isn't the only brand Milkshake Concepts is bringing to the Houston market. The Finch, a modern American restaurant is coming to Montrose (post about it is in this thread, also sent this last month to local media covering Houston's restaurant scene, so they're aware but are choosing to sit on it until Milkshake Concepts sends a press release).

Citizen closed at 5922 Washington Ave (or did it open as Wyld Chld?... I saw photos and marketing for both when this was operating as a night club). I'm not sure which month it closed in 2022.

Opening in the former Citizen (or Wyld Chld) space is Forget Me Not.

I'm not sure if this is a club, restaurant, or both. Going off Forget Me Not's Google Map listing, it's hard to tell. Rather than marking Citizen closed and creating a new Google Map listing, Forget Me Not claimed the listing and changed the name of the business to Forget Me Not. All the photos on Google Maps are of Citizen. Most of the photos were uploaded by Citizen (that now appears as Forget Me Not).

It's possible Forget Me Not is Houston's latest supperclub / vibe dining concept. Forget Me Not appears to be similar to Bisou, Kiss, Ratio, and many others around town, based off its Instagram. I don't know if any minor remodeling has taken place.

There are two opening dates provided for Forget Me Not: one for January 2023 on Instagram and the other for February 2023 on Google Maps. I don't know which one is correct.

Night clubs come and go, but regarding the closure of Citizen (or Wyld Chld), I think it may have had something to do with Mario Azodinia.

Azodinia is tied to Capstone Houston Group. He's also tied to Sekai Hospitality (Wyld Chld).

As has been noted, Azodina is linked to the bribery scheme involving Mayor Turner's former aide William-Paul Thomas. He was also sued a few months ago by investors. The lawsuit accuses "him of defaulting on 17 promissory notes, totaling more than $4 million, for ventures including nightclubs, bars and a nail salon."

Almost all of his bars / clubs recently changed ownership / management. I'm not sure about Bar Rosa, but Parma, Seaside Lounge, Space, and Rose Gold are most of the clubs previously owned by Azodina. I don't know if Azondina sold most of his nightclubs and bars because of his legal woes or not. However, the timing of the new ownerships seems like it could be related. In fact, "the lawsuit alleged... Azodinia defaulted [on loans] in part because of his ties to a public corruption case," according to the Real Deal.
