The $5.2 million purchase is part of M.D. Anderson's long-term plan to ring the Houston area with satellite facilities, said Susan Lipka, the center's director of capital planning. ipka said M.D. Anderson officials haven't determined the size or cost of the new facility, which will include an expanded area for radiation therapy, facilities for chemotherapy, diagnostic imaging equipment and clinical space. It will be staffed by M.D. Anderson doctors and faculty from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Lipka said. The staff often works rotations at satellite facilities.
