Chi-Char-Hou-Dal
Formerly Saint Dane's - new poles / beer garden maybe being set up in former parking lot? Looks like the Pizza Patron logo? Very curious. Getting close to finishing the spur redo
staresatmaps
That logo has been there since they closed. I saw the exact some logo recently by Cafe Luxor on Yale street, but I cant remember what it was on.
wilcal
I honestly think someone is living there. It seems like there is a vehicle or two there all of the time.
Amlaham
This seems like such a prime location, and a Pizza Patron would be extremely disappointing especially since there is a dominos less than 400 feet away.
staresatmaps
It's not Pizza Patron, it just looks similar. But that logo has been there the whole time so it most likely has nothing to do with any business that might be put there. There is also Dominos, Piola, Love Buzz, Papa Johns, Pepperoni's, Pizza Hut, Pizza Love, Luigi's, the other Luigi's, Gotham Pizza, Russo's, Gypso Poet, and Pink's Pizza all within a mile. You can never have too much pizza.
ew2003
No clue what kind of article this is, but I see a notice for a TABC permit application for a bar called Joe's Place with the same address. The article is from April 2020. Notice is hereby given in accordance with the terms and provisions of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code that Integrative Designs, LLC dba Joe’s Place has filed application for Mixed Beverage Permit, Mixed Beverage Late Hours Permit. Said business to be conducted at 502 Elgin, Houston (Harris County), Texas 77006. ew2003
Hmm. Interesting! HCAD mailing address for 502 Elgin is the same as the mailing address for Joe's Car Wash on Montrose.

j_cuevas713
That's actually a very well run car wash. Not sure how it's going to work on that corner in Midtown, but we'll see.

If I had to guess, I’d expect Joe’s Place to take on a garage bar theme given the connection to Joe’s Car Wash. Also, like the car wash, it has flagpoles out front. IntheKnowHouston
Saint Dane's successor, Joe's Place, closed some time this year. I think it finally opened in late fall of 2021. Moving into the bar space at 502 Elgin St is Stick Talk. It's a food truck from Alife Hospitality (Lost & Found, Kamp, Prospect Park) serving Japanese and Cajun fusion fare cooked on hibachi grills. This will be the food truck's first brick-and-mortar location.
j_cuevas713
No offense to Joe's Place but the giant flag poles and the fully fenced in area made it feel like a fort more than an open, inviting bar. Glad something is taking it's spot.
