CrockpotandGravel
In the last 10 years or so, the two story house sitting on the property of 219 Westheimer has been restaurant Feast ( thread about it in the dining forum), Georges Bistro, and the catering hub for Houston Catering Concepts. The property changed hands twice after George Guy sold Georges Bistro. A restaurant group purchased the property and continued to operate a lesser quality of Georges Bistro and then renamed it to something else (can't recall). Later, the property was sold to the owners of Houston Catering Company (Bagel Shop Bakery, New York Deli & Coffee Shop). Specs from a 2017 Loopnet listing: Lot Size: 5,500 SF Building Size: 3,114 SF Year Built: 1920 https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/20128801/219-Westheimer-Houston-TX/ (archive link) Photo of Georges Bistro from Loopnet
CrockpotandGravel
Houston Catering Company (Bagel Shop Bakery, New York Deli & Coffee Shop) announced the relocation of its catering operations from 219 Westheimer in Montrose to a new development in Bellaire (thread about it here). The move will probably take place around spring or summer of 2020, depending on the buildout progress. Houston Catering Company owns the property at 219 Westheimer. The news reported in CultureMap doesn't include if HCC will open a new concept at 219 Westheimer or put the property on the market. From CultureMap Houston yesterday:Saghian and his partners, Shaun Leva and bagel shop co-founder Ed Gavrila, have purchased a former drug store/pawn shop at 5422 Bellaire Blvd that will allow them to expand all of their current businesses: Houston Catering Concepts, New York Deli & Coffee Shop, and the Bagel Shop Bakery. Currently, the partners expect to move the catering business from its current home on lower Westheimer to the new facility some time in the second quarter of 2020.http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/11-06-19-ny-deli-coffee-shop-bagel-shop-bakery-second-location-city-of-bellaire-michael-saghian-shaun-leva-ed-gavrila/
dbigtex56
The 100+ year old house (previous home of Feast and other restaurants) was demolished this past Saturday December 26, 2020. R.I.P. Any word on if something besides a parking lot will take its place? Unhappily, my bet's on parking lot.
rechlin
Assuming you mean Feast, not Underbelly. That was a cool old building; sad to see it go.
trymahjong
I think it was Chez George before Feast and George’s afterward? George and Monica Guy, such a wonderful dinning experience.......both returned to France I think. I’m not sure what it started out as.
