phillip_white
Asbestos abatement in progress at the small building on the corner. My guess is it will be down in a couple weeks.

It's possible that the owner wants to avoid a citation from the COH (the fines can be pretty steep). Still, it seems odd to take this measure if demolition is imminent.

I haven't seen an approved demo permit, so maybe it's just easier to apply a layer of CYA paint to avoid the fine like you said. Hopefully Rowdy doesn't notice the blank canvas!

Thanks. Wonder if the entire building site will be fenced off once demolition is complete. Local businesses will probably hate to lose several free parking spaces.

Guessing it will be gone by the end of the week.

dbigtex56
They're wasting no time on this project. At this pace, the building might very well be taking shape by year's end.

There's a waste water sign on the fence that says something along the lines of Q3 2022 completion (I think it was Oct, but don't remember). Still very fast considering the size of the project 2

Maybe a little like this? This was Le Corbusier's idea for Paris back in the early 20th Century. Not too dissimilar. 5

Naviguessor
@j_cuevas713This was just a really bad idea who's time never came. Those in the Paris suburbs though, unfortunately, did. Yikes.

dbigtex56
A slab has been poured and work started on the second floor of the southern (McGownen St) end of the project.
mattyt36
Reminds me of The Hamilton. (Isn’t it essentially the same idea?)
BEES?!
It sure does look the same, @mattyt36. Though it looks like it’ll be a different color once all is said and done. what are the rental rates going to be on these? (Like is a certain % workforce housing, other % VLI, etc) Is this project supposed to be replacing stock that was wiped out during Harvey flooding?
