The 8,250 SF tract at 223 Westheimer, next to Georges Bistro, will be developed into a commercial property. Davis Commercial recently sold the tract (archived link and Loopnet link), marketed as a rare Westheimer tract.

More about the sell of the tract at 223 Westheimer, reported last week by Rebusiness Online:

Davis Commercial Real Estate has arranged the sale of a commercial land parcel located at 223 Westheimer in Montrose. Gazebo Management Inc. acquired the 8,250-square-foot site for the development of a dumpling restaurant. Mark Davis of Davis Commercial represented the undisclosed seller, while Charles Kwon of Realm Real Estate Professionals represented the buyer. The acquisition price was not released.

From an interview with Mark Davis of Davis Commercial about the future of Lower Westheimer.  This comes from Realty News Report.

Realty News Report: You just sold a Lower Westheimer site for a restaurant? What was its name? Can you please tell me more?

Mark Davis: This site was owned by the El Tiempo folks, who originally purchased it for parking for their new El Tiempo restaurant up the street at Westheimer and Taft. As it turns out, they didn’t need it, but to my above point, parking is at a premium in the area and it is not economically feasible for folks to pay $75-$100 PSF for land for parking. (The recent deal: Mark Davis brokered the sale of 8,250 SF of commercial land located at 223 Westheimer to Gazebo Management. A dumpling restaurant will be developed on the property.)

Dirt has been moved and steel has been put up. Does anyone know what's going in here?

While riding the 82 I went past this lot, and its literally just a small plain white building that will be tucked into the back of the lot with parking in front. No idea what will be going into the building, but its a pretty small one.

Sorry. I didn't see this sooner. Some details on the lot at 223 Westheimer in Montrose, Houston:

The building built on the lot will become a dumpling restaurant: Pling.

Another rendering  of the building built recently on the vacant lot at 223 Westheimer in Montrose. This is in the Avondale subdivision in Houston.

The building built on the lot will be dumpling restaurant: Pling.

Pling will seat 20.

The design of the restaurant comes from Blank Design, an architecture and consulting company in Brooklyn, New York. Blank Design also designed the Tim Ho Wan restaurants in the states (and will design the one opening in Katy, TX next year).

This is a low resolution and zoomed in screenshot of the rendering showing the interior.

I saw this on Instagram but am not linking the source because it's a private account.

Details on dumpling restaurant Pling. This is the new building on 223 Westheimer, Houston.

From Papercity yesterday:

Another dim sum spot is set to open in Montrose by the end of the year and put its own spin on the beloved dumpling tradition. Say hello to Pling.

Pling may be the last syllable of “dumpling,” but it also represents a whole new era. It’s all built on galbi, the traditional marinade you find in Korean barbecue restaurants. It’s a sauce you’re unlikely to experience in any other kind of Asian restaurant.

“We tried to compact the flavor and savoriness of galbi into a bite-sized dumpling,” owner Jun Hyun tells PaperCity. “We want to stand out by making people feel like they had a ‘Pling,’ not a normal dim sum dumpling that you can see or taste anywhere else.”

....Hyun figured he could launch Pling in Los Angeles or New York, but he believes they’re oversaturated.

“We felt like Houston was the up-and-coming new city. We wanted to choose one with a good mix of cultures blending together,” he says.

...The design at 223 Westheimer will have a modern, airy look with an open kitchen in its 8,250 square feet of space.

More on dumpling restaurant Pling. This is the new building on 223 Westheimer, Houston.

From Eater Houston today:

A fast-casual eatery dubbed Pling plans to bring Montrose a compact, quick-serve dumpling destination.

Pling, now under construction at 223 Westheimer Road, is on track to debut by the end of the year.

And from the Korean Festival Houston Facebook page yesterday:

Pling by Snowfox is a new dumpling house concept that will be opening in Houston later this year.

These aren't high resolution renderings but are slightly better visual quality to the ones posted above.

The renderings are of the  dumpling restaurant Pling. This is the new building on 223 Westheimer, Houston.
