phillip_white
Are these the most recent renderings? I remember seeing some that were much more bland.
hindesky
The white building @Paco Jones posted earlier is the new design according to the Hoar worker I talked with a couple weeks ago. 8
Amlaham
It would look so much better if they went with a more industrial design on the top floors to match the garage, this looks like a garage wearing a fancy hat :( Still have hope it will come out better than the rendering :( Edited September 1, 2022 by Amlaham
BEES?!
It makes me nervous like it’s about to tip over .. Museum district is really out there getting the, ah, ”creative” towers, aren’t they? Edited September 1, 2022 by BEES?!
Popular Post HoustonIsHome
On 8/2/2022 at 11:54 AM, Tim F said: You clearly don't live in the neighborhood. The Boone Manor development was a nightmare, damaging houses, creating truck traffic at 5am on weekend mornings, and filling yards with trash for two years. This project is going to destroy Lucille's, add 1,000+ daily car trips on roads that simply aren't designed to handle it, and finish off this part of the museum district as a nice place to live. Yes, it looks damn cool, but it has no business being in this part of town. This is the heart of the city. Is between two huge employment centers. The entire area between the park and the 59 and 288 and Montrose should be filled with these types of developments. We turn a blind eye when historic neighborhoods get reaped apart. We say, if you wanted to preserve that building why didn't you buy it or spend money to save it? We say, you can't tell people what to build on their land. But when its next door to us, all of a sudden we have concerns. I hate to see people's enjoyment of their homes be diminished, but we make adjustments for progress. And a big old building near other big old buildings in the heart of the city is definitely properly situated. 9
Amlaham
Did some research and these buildings usually have really neat amenities (idk if this is already the norm) Fully furnished units (if desired) In house crew professional cleaning An app for the building that lets you unlock doors, register for classes, or chat with the building crew Huge co-working space + private work space Not only a gym, but private lockers and a studio that offers classes like pilates, yoga, kick boxing, etc. Also, if anyone wants a perspective what it might look like, the X Phoenix is somewhat similar to our renderings except their garage is covered and it's a bit shorter. jmitch94
God almighty this is an ugly building. It looks like the abandoned and gutted hotel downtown with that exposed parking garage. Wow that building in Phoenix is bad. 6
Texasota
Huh. I don't agree. I like the way they screened it and the big double height entrance area with its forest of columns. It's a still a giant parking podium, but I've seen much worse.
Popular Post hindesky
I counted 5 concrete trucks thinking they might be doing a mat pour but it turns out they are just filling the piers support columns.

LosFeliz
I hate this thing. If it were downtown, uptown, or TMC it would bother me much less but the Museum District has a much more human scale than those other areas filled with massive garages and wide streets. The garage mahauling of Houston spreads.

I don’t agree with those on here who say the Museum District is the best lifestyle Texas has to offer, but it’s a domesticated urban life under live oaks we can all recognize as Southeast Texan, and there’s more to see and do than in similar neighborhoods in our smaller cities and towns with similar streetscapes. Calumet and Crawford are two of the widest streets/boulevards that intersect, so at least X is perched at that wide spot in the public rights of way. Two of these adjoining corners are being marketed by JLL now with for sale signs up, if I saw right.
