(Nasdaq: DLTR) could be the latest national chain to make a major investment in Houston-area distribution space. The retailer tentative plans to build a $130 million distribution center in Rosenberg, a city in Fort Bend County, according to a Feb. 6 press release. The facility will be on 140 acres at Spur 10 near Klosterhoff Road, about 40 miles southwest of downtown Houston. The distribution center would create more than 300 jobs and serve both Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores, per the release. The company has more than 1,600 such stores in Texas. Construction of the 1.2 million-square-foot distribution facility is expected to begin in April or May with the facility becoming operational by summer 2020, per the release. However, Dollar Tree’s final decision to proceed with the project depends on whether the company reaches agreements with local government. Dollar Tree is seeking to agree upon incentive packages with Rosenberg City Council, the Rosenberg Development Corp. and the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court, per the release, which did not include details of the packages. The company also is seeking the annexation of the 140-acre site and creation of Reinvestment Zones by the city and the county. The purchase of the site has yet to close, per the release. ChannelTwoNews
Just got back from the area, and you can certainly see this one from 59/69 as it is. I think they are putting the final touches on it. Entry off spur 10 is blocked off, but it looks pretty close to being ready to go.
