Looks like future signal/stop lights stands for the future new road. I know lots of car enthusiasts are pissed with all the lights on Allen Pkwy, no more hauling ass on a curvy road. Might have saved O'Quinn's life if they had them back then.

No top out tree yet, looks like they are working on the utilities floor on the roof. Looks like they are removing all the steel from the old building next door before demolition. I've Googled Buffalo Park Dr. and nothing comes up so I'm guessing it's one of the 3 new streets in the Hanover Autry Park project.

I hope like hell that this is not the final product for a sidewalk, it has just enough room for 1 person and looks to be about 30" wide. If someone were to encounter another person, someone is going to walk on the street or in the grass while trying not to get killed by a car. This is on the north side sidewalk on W. Dallas by the mid rise portion of the Hanover Autry Park.

I wonder if sometime in the future, say maybe 30-40 years, people are going to date black brick usage as a 2020's architects' crutch that will date all the buildings using it?

I say it be named the Barney Fife memorial sidewalk, since he would be one of the few to comfortable walk on it.

That is odd, to say the least.  It appears to be new, but it pretty clear does not comply with the city's requirements...

That is so Houston. A too-narrow sidewalk interrupted by a utility pole, mere inches from a busy street. Seems like a lot of expense to build a temporary concrete sidewalk. I'll be surprised if it's replaced by something adequate. 
How much you want to bet that the developer crows about the "high walkability score" of this project?

The cement strip is just a little wider than the utility pole. That's obviously a scenic bike path. Duh.

Is it possible they add extra width on both sides with decorative brick etc, but I just wonder why they went around the utility pole like is it that hard to move the pole or integrate it into the sidewalk? Looks like the guy putting down the cement was just like not my job...

Hanover has a pretty good track record. I would not bet on this being the final product.

So I talked with a city worker about the 3 foot sidewalk along W Dallas. He said this development falls under "rehab and restoration." So whatever the original sidewalk was, the workers must return it back to that 3 foot width. This isn't considered new construction which is ridiculous. He did say the utilities would be buried and he also gave me some very insightful info. If you're a business/property owner, and your sidewalk is messed up because of tree roots and you want to fix it as the owner, the city won't let you. He said the city will say the greater of the two is the tree's life and so as the property owner, you must be insured in case anyone gets hurt from your crappy sidewalks. My mind is officially blown.

He did say Houston adopted a "pass lane" for sidewalks like over 40 years ago. To which I responded "What?" He said he will monitor it as the development progresses to see what can be done.

There is indeed a "rehab and restoration" exception to the sidewalk requirements, but it only applies in certain circumstances  to "work performed by other governmental entities, political subdivisions, transit authorities, or local government corporations." Perhaps the City or some other governmental entity may have repaired and replaced these portions of the sidewalk in conjunction with the street repairs.  That apparently would be allowed by the City ordinance.

But the development (Hanover) would have been required to submit sidewalk plans before getting building permits, and I'm pretty sure this "plan" would not be allowed.  

I am still of the opinion that these will not be the final sidewalks, especially if the utilities are going to be buried.

The city generally extracts a commitment to provide 6-ft sidewalks in exchange for approving things like setback variances. (Not sure if this project required a variance or not.)

When I went by they were about to attach the grapple attachment to the long reach track hoe. I was hoping for some dynamite and explosions.

Rode by at their lunch time and they were adding hydraulic fluid to the long reach track hoe with the grapple attachment. Just barely into the southwest corner of the building.
