Blue Dogs
Sad news to report to everyone: former Ch. 13 Chief Meteorologist Ed Brandon passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. He first joined Ch. 13 in 1972 after doing radio stints in Austin, Longview & his native Texarkana. Brandon continued serving as the Chief Meteorologist until the early Spring of 1989, when he checked into rehab for substance abuse issues: following this, the ABC O&O Station hired Joe Diaz from Albuquerque, NM to serve as the Chief Meteorologist until Ch. 13 rehired Brandon back in 1990, where he continued until his retirement in May of 2007. In 2002, Ch. 13 hired Tim Heller to become the Chief Meteorologist for the Live at 5 & 10:00 PM Newscasts & moved Brandon to the 6:00 PM Newscasts only. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Former-Houston-TV-weatherman-Ed-Brandon-has-died-13174302.php https://abc13.com/society/tv-weather-icon-ed-brandon-remembered-by-friends-at-abc13/4029443/ Deep condolences going to his family & friends including colleagues at Ch. 13.
