1504 Chapman St

Recommended Posts

From Swamplot, on the warehouse at 1504 Chapman in Houston:

Here’s the next target in Houston’s continuing warehouse-to-brewery turnover trend: 1504 Chapman St. A group of local brewers got their hands on the 6,283-sq.-ft. building — pictured above from the south — in April and a budding Facebook page now shows its address as the location of a venue they’re calling Local Group Brewing.

It’s within the same general parish as St. Arnold’s recently-opened beer cathedral and existing brewery. They’re both less than half a mile away on the other side of the former Union Pacific brownfield pictured below, now giving rise to the complex of mixed-use buildings dubbed Hardy Yards

More on Local Group Brewing, the Houston brewery at 1504 Chapman.

Local Group Brewing Houston, TX

Who we are

Local Group Brewing is a brewery that is currently in the final stages of planning. We are a few weeks away from filing permits and starting the renovation of our building. Inside of the building there will be a kitchen/seating space for an aspiring chef or restaurant to create an experience that will complement the brewery/taproom.

Position Summary

We are looking for a chef and/or restaurant that can create and serve food that will complement our fresh beer. For the right individual, we will consider someone who is a first time restaurateur. The business will be separate from the brewery, although some collaboration and cooperation is required. The brewery owns the restaurant space so we are flexible on lease terms, the opportunity for a partnership, and build out costs.

The Acme Patten Works company was operational at 1504 Chapman . Local Group Brewing has a photo on Facebook with a plaque on the building for the business' establishment in 1948.

From Facebook:

Why rebuild when you can refurbish? There's been a few businesses since 1948 but hopefully Local Group Brewing will be here for a long time! Coming Q2 2019.

More on  Local Group Brewing , a brewery under construction at 1504 Chapman St, Houston.

From a press release Eater Houston published today:

A new brewpub is headed to Houston’s Near Northside in late 2019, promising “a patio with killer views.” That’s what Local Group Brewing co-founder Michael Steeves said in a press release announcing the news that this brewery with on-site kitchen and an air-conditioned taproom is moving into 1504 Chapman Street in Hardy Yards.

Steeves, Todd Donewar, and head brewer James “Huggy Bear” Wolfe are behind Local Group Brewing, which will feature more than 20 taps, eight of which will be connected directly to ten-barrel serving tanks for beer freshness.

The 7,500-square-foot space is in the works from Method Architecture and contractor GSD Construction, with a plan to gut the space, add that patio along with windows and garage doors, and dress the brewpub up with and white oak and steel furniture. The hunt is on right now for an executive chef for the upcoming pet and family-friendly hangout.

Sigh.

This has been posted. The topic and the article.

The thread was started last year and can be found by the address and the name of the brewery in the search and on Google. It's in the downtown forum, though it should be in its own forum for Near Northside, Hardy Yards and Fifth Ward.

Please remove.

Wow, two of the best breweries in town within a half mile of each other, and each within 1000 feet of the new protected bike lanes from downtown up Elysian. I'll see you all there!

Who looks for existing topics by address? Who can tell what the address is as you drive by? Far better to have generic threads for an area, and maybe go specific when the name of the business is known. I never use the forum name to search either, since I just pull in all the new posts.

Its going to be okay Crockpot. Thousands of bytes have been extinguished of life,  but a mod will bring them back to life.

It bugs me because it's NOT like the existing thread didn't have all the identifiers to make it easy to find. The title and multiple posts included the address, and multiple posts included the name of the brewery.

And two hours later, this hasn't been merged, And I know Triton saw my post and report of a duplicate thread because he was online when I did both. And the other mods saw it too. So yeah. Considered me bugged.

Not sure why you need to say sigh to me but ok, a good portion of Northside projects have either been posted in Going Up! or the Heights subforum. I'm usually good about the discussions we're having across the site because I have to check them all and I hadn't remembered any mention of this brewery before. Hence, I posted it to the Heights forum. But anyway, I agree and am still petitioning that we have a Northside forum here soon. The area is changing fast and we definitely need a subforum for the Northside.

Edit: Crockpot, it's ok.

Its gonna be okay CrockPot. HAIF is not Customer Relationship Management software where duplicates can be marginally annoying. The mods do a good job on this website. Small oversights can happen. Its okay.

To which everyone that's ever had to work with CRM systems breathes a sigh of relief.
