That site is still planned for a 1m SF office tower developed by TC and Linbeck.  They are trying to secure lead tenants, which is certainly a challenge in the current climate, but I believe the designs have all been completed.

If they couldn't get this done in 2013-2014, I can't even imagine how they're going to do it now.

This thing is really filling in some gaps from afar. I attribute the rebirth of NoDo (JK), Northern Downtown to the Bayou and street improvements. Also, look what Discovery Green has spurred. Southern Downtown is patiently awaiting the Pierce Elevated to be torn down and will be the next focus area of development. Hopefully.

While the base is a slap in the face, the tower portion is a gentle peck.

I'm not picky, but driving down the street, the base seems unremarkable either way. Once the construction barriers are removed and the street level is finished out, I think it could be a decent looking place to walk around.

The "International Tower" block/garage is now an ugly outlier in the neighborhood. Five years ago it would have been an upgrade.

This building is so interesting.

Then I look at Market Square Tower and my first thought is its still a decent building building because its not on a podium and from this angle of blocks that huge garage.

You don't owe Market Square Tower anything. It's the Harris County Criminal Courthouse of Residential Buildings. It's like the very threshold, to the finest degree, of architecture in this city.

Partly joking, partly being a big you know what. Brava (the tower portion only), is looking great.

My favorite thing about @hindesky's picture on January 2 is that it does show a very lovely, and I would almost say unusually shaped, building. The exposed beams creating a bit of continuity from the ground floor up, the brilliant shade of the glass, and way they integrate the podium to the residential portion through the spine of the building and...

"PAY MACHINE INSIDE LOT ONLY, DO NOT PAY ATTENDANT." Houston in a nutshell. 😇🧐🤭
