  • The title was changed to 10200 Bellaire Blvd: New Mixed-Use Coming To The Former Halliburton Campus

A nearly 50-acre corporate campus near Houston’s Chinatown area that was once owned by a division of Halliburton Co. is set to be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development.

While plans for the new development have not yet been made public, Johnson Development Services and the Houston office of Gensler are crafting a master plan that will include office, retail and residential spaces, the news release said. Transwestern has been tapped to oversee office leasing for the project with several build-to-suit opportunities.

The property at 10200 Bellaire Blvd. was formerly known as the Halliburton Oak Park Campus, taking its name from the company that had it built in the 1970s. The building also had ties to Brown & Root, which was a Halliburton subsidiary at the time before it merged with M.W. Kellogg to create KBR.

It could be interesting to see what goes here and how it could change that area. But this also down the road from that other huge empty lot east of the Beltway at Westheimer. Is that ever going to get developed?

I'm hoping it something that fits the area I feel like that area has not even begun to tap it potential

This is huge for the Asian community and a big win. We know many shop owners along that route. Could bring in a good amount of office workers for all the Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants over there.

That portion of Bellaire Blvd has been getting many new food places directly from Asia (Tiger Sugar is the big that opened this week. Look at the Yelp reviews and the two hour long lines, it's insane) and you'll notice a lot of the older shopping centers have either begun to renovate and add on to their existing buildings.

Either way, very exciting to hear!

The zigzag building on the north side of the site is the national corporate HQ of the Mens Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, etc.

A couple of those little view corridors running north-south would be better if their sidewalks arched over the boulevard and landed in Storey Park.  Wonder if the masterplanners could team up with those neighbors to make that happen.

Considering the location, the restaurants list is eye-poppingly generic.

It's adjacent to suburban office campuses 🤷‍♂️. Not sure why they didn't include anything on the other side of Brays Bayou.

it was supposed to be some super Chinese high rides near the park and beechnut in the 90s - started on the massive concrete pads but and it just stopped - pads may still be there

It was 2007-2008 or so. I actually went to the office for the project which was somewhere in an business park on the other side of the Beltway, IIRC.

It would have been three 26 story residential towers set back from the feeder, with a 9-story hospital from University General that was near the tower closest to the HEB. Retail center closer to the feeder. Very 80s looking approach to mixed-use from what I recall.
