Jim Boyle
Does anyone know the current status of the Halliburton property on the west Sam Houston at Bellaire? I read it was going to auction at the end of April, but nothing since?
Highrise Tower
https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2020/11/18/former-halliburton-campus-to-be-demolished.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s Quote A nearly 50-acre corporate campus near Houston’s Chinatown area that was once owned by a division of Halliburton Co. is set to be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development. While plans for the new development have not yet been made public, Johnson Development Services and the Houston office of Gensler are crafting a master plan that will include office, retail and residential spaces, the news release said. Transwestern has been tapped to oversee office leasing for the project with several build-to-suit opportunities. The property at 10200 Bellaire Blvd. was formerly known as the Halliburton Oak Park Campus, taking its name from the company that had it built in the 1970s. The building also had ties to Brown & Root, which was a Halliburton subsidiary at the time before it merged with M.W. Kellogg to create KBR.
zaphod
It could be interesting to see what goes here and how it could change that area. But this also down the road from that other huge empty lot east of the Beltway at Westheimer. Is that ever going to get developed?

I'm hoping it something that fits the area I feel like that area has not even begun to tap it potential
Triton
This is huge for the Asian community and a big win. We know many shop owners along that route. Could bring in a good amount of office workers for all the Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants over there. That portion of Bellaire Blvd has been getting many new food places directly from Asia (Tiger Sugar is the big that opened this week. Look at the Yelp reviews and the two hour long lines, it's insane) and you'll notice a lot of the older shopping centers have either begun to renovate and add on to their existing buildings. Either way, very exciting to hear!
zaphod
It looks like the entire southern half of the hourglass shaped building is gone now, and they are hammering away at the northern end.
Triton
Quick update, all portions are gone except for the parking garage. That is staying. Here's a sign that popped up:

Urbannizer
What’s the name of this development?
Texasota
Impressive, but I hate the way they created a buffer along Rogerdale and Bellaire Blvd.
Triton
If they can build this, it's going to transform Chinatown. Here's to hoping we get a lot more Asian retail and restaurants in Houston!

It is being referenced to as "Oak Park" right now. Construction is slated to begin mid July, which will likely just be underground utilities and such. I don't have much information on the actual buildings other than there is going to be multi-family, retail, dining, POB (offices), and parking (in addition to the existing parking garage). Johnson Development and Garden Capital Partners. This development is going forward. Hoping that it is built and completed as proposed. I would really be happy to see a nice mixed-used development happen in this part of town. I still remember how Park 8 got me excited and then broke my heart.
strickn
The zigzag building on the north side of the site is the national corporate HQ of the Mens Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, etc. A couple of those little view corridors running north-south would be better if their sidewalks arched over the boulevard and landed in Storey Park. Wonder if the masterplanners could team up with those neighbors to make that happen.
