Urbannizer
Chateau Domingue Has Checked Out of Its Euro-Centric W. Alabama Showroom off Edloe http://swamplot.com/chateau-domingue-has-checked-out-of-its-euro-centric-w-alabama-showroom-off-edloe/2018-03-06/ Quote Longtime Upper Kirby resident Chateau Domingue has packed up the floor tiles, doorknobs, and candlesticks at its former W. Alabama St. showroom just west of Edloe St. and left for a new location in Timbergrove. An entity connected to energy businessman Douglas Foshee bought the building that housed the antique furniture and building materials store at the end of 2016. Fencing went up around the site last week, and on Friday, a permit was filed to disconnect the structure from the city’s sewer system — typically a sign that a demolition is imminent. Chateau Domingue’s old location is abutted on one side by a complex of warehouse buildings that runs south from W. Alabama toward the middle of the block. At its new location on W. 12th St. between Hempstead and Seamist Dr., the showroom is now hugged entirely by industrial structures.

Naviguessor
Nice! Like the scale of this building. Not so big, that your unit isn't one of hundreds. Looks like it'll be a nice place to live. More of these, please.

AREJAY
It's next door neighbor (3613) is on the demo report today. A JLL billboard from street view has this site as 3 acres and is no longer listed on their site. Is there a project proposed for this site? I couldn't find anything http://swamplot.com/daily-demolition-report-rescinded/2018-03-13/#comments

There sure is a lot of interest on W Alabama between Kirby and Weslayan. Excited to see some of the projects along this stretch come to fruition in the coming years.

Highrise Tower
Somewhat disappointing. W. Alabama could use more high rises. Still a good development though. Will be fun to watch.

houstontexasjack
From what I can tell, this parcel is similar in size to the portion of land north of the Venue Museum District, which Hines just acquired. Hines only got one-half of the land to the north, with the other occupied by a now-closed bar. If Hines can acquire the other parcel, I wonder if they'd be interested in building something of the scope as what was designed by MASA Studio. It'd be a nice complement to the Southmore.
