crunchtastic
do you know what a dugout is?are you sure you weren't sitting behind/above the dugout? Why is it that typical Houston sports fans can only complain after we win?Do you know what it means when your MMP seats are in dugout level? I was sitting behind home plate, in row 15. That seat section is referred to as 'dugout'. For people who go to MMP regularly, to say "I was in dugout" is interchangeable with "I was in section 114 (or 116). I left out the word 'section', my bad. And yes, I will generally complain about being surrounded by a-hole, non-fans around me when they impede my enjoyment of the game.
PuroAztlan
Valverde should be shot after what happened last nite. Cooper should be fired if he puts him in again tonight. Unbelievable.
westguy76
Astros starting pitching team ERA minus Roy Oswalt = 2.59just trying to be positive. I think were screwed. <br /><br />When I started this thread I was being sarcastic about Roy O being our "ace" for those who didn't pick that up. Unfortunately because of Valverde it was all for nothing. I can't help but get the feeling that this is going to be one of those years were we just can't get all phases of our game clicking at the same time. In SD our bats were aspleep but our pitching was on...then our bats start to come around and our bullpen goes to hell, soon our bullpen will normalize and our starters will start to get tagged....sorry for the pessimism, I just don't see our starting pitching holding this level of performance through the rest of the season. That is except Chacon...he was a highly touted prospect who may end up being a late bloomer...the potential has always been there for him to be a solid number 3 starter....Sampson and Bakke are a different story, though I love Bakke's toughness. Wandy is a wash because he can't pitch on the road, unless they schedule his starts all at home, I mean, why not???? Has a pitcher in history ever had such a steep home-road disparity for so long? As I remember there were a couple of balls that should have been caught to end innings. He gave up 4 runs in that game and struck out 6 in only 5 innings, by the way, we won that game. As I remember there were a couple of balls that should have been caught to end innings. He's 3-10 with a 6.41 ERA, 76/34 K/BB, and 16 home runs allowed in 92 2/3 innings on the road. His era in his start in San Diego was 7.2...and as for the balls that should have been caught, we don't really have a strong fielding team per se, though they have been okay so far this season. So I agree, there is hope...if you pitch him at home... Do you think this Hunter no-hitty thing is short-term temporary, or longer. Like an after the Big Rookie Year slump? I'm hearing more naysaying lately, but I think it's short lived problem. Just got home and stupid dish network is acting up. grrr.... edit: Excellent innings from Wright and Brocail. Yay! 2-1 win. lockmat
Raise your hand if you care if Tejada lied about his age?I don't condone it, but that was years ago. ESPN-PD is getting old. I know journalism to a certain extent is to keep things in check, but to go snooping around looking for garbage just for a non-story is dumb and I don't think anybody cares. Actually, it's annoying. albertnurick
Great game last night (we had wonderful seats, right by third base, four rows back). We were loving the offense -- it's been forever since I've watched an Astros team that could hit the ball. And the baserunning was excellent as well; they took risks that payed off, which is another thing I don't remember seeing in the past.Looks like 2008 may be a fun year. I like what I'm seeing so far. lockmat
Resting a sore groin.nooooooo. ok. Thanks.Does it seem weird to see Darin Erstad on a National League roster, much less the Astros? Glad he had a good game last night though.

Luckily we don't have him on a long contract but if we did, you can bet Drayton would be miffed. I'd say that would be a breach of contract. crunchtastic
<Raising Hand> Late in a baseball player's career, declining performance increases quickly. Not necessarily. I hear they have performance-enhacing drugs to fix that. Wow, don't hear much about that Tejada story lately. I try to focus on the positive. He can hit, and he actually knows how to play SS. I'd say that would be a breach of contract.I can understand that. But I wonder if the Astros knew already? It wouldn't surprise me. It may be a little issue, but it's not a big deal, like ESPN has made it out to be.I know age plays a factor when considering to sign a player, but if he can hit, he can hit. I guess the contract comes more into play when the lenght of it comes up.
lockmat
awwww, lil' Adam. Actually he was damn good defensively. No-- I was thinking of the Astros tendency to sign expensive hitters who's defensive skills leave something to be desired. a la Carlos Lee? crunchtastic
hah, can you imagine if that was said on air? The PC police would lock you up After they're done busting Puro for his avatar, lol. Knowing too much is sort of a turnoff for me though. Unless I'm not dating them, then that's cool. It's not pride, it just seems weird. don't worry, I don't know that much. crunchtastic
Tonight was lovely. I can always count on my Stros to go put a hurt on Cincinatti. One of their few consistent things! Great bats. A couple of strike-outs that should have been at least doubles. A few very nice defensive plays--Tejada, Loretta and even the Puma, all back-handed like. Mark Loretta is one of those dudes that's been around a long time and just plays, consistent. At this point, he's on 3rd playing for the mysterious Ty Wiggington. I like Loretta. (And not just because he's my people)

20thStDad
I think Bronson Arroyo just sucks, he has thrown batting practice all year.EDIT: I was at tonight's game, on a business trip. Great park, but the fans were weak. I thought Houston fans were weak, showing up late and being pretty quiet, but there were only 11000 people there, and no noise except when Griffey came to bat. I expected more from a team with such history. Edited April 24, 2008 by 20thStDad
